Hi all! I'm new to this forum after purchasing a 2010 116i a couple of weeks ago. It's the 2L petrol sport model. A week or so ago the engine management light came on, so went to a local BMW specialist to read the codes and diagnose as I have a 3 month warranty. Strangest thing, the code read as a DPF issue - obviously not correct as it's petrol. So he sent it all to BMW for a diagnostic, came back as the PCV valve in the rocker cover. So BMW advised to replace. He's gone to the warranty company first as a new rocker cover is £400 so he wanted to get it validated before ordering etc. Warranty company do not cover this. Any advice if someone has had this issue before and what to do? The code and light come back on when cleared, so needs sorting. Thanks in advance!

Morning Charlie

Welcome to the Forum

Bit of a concern that a BMW specialist needed BMW to help ?

Some thoughts, can the PCV valve be cleaned ? Has the specialist checked the system hoses for any damage ?

Try checking www.realoem.com yourself put the last 7 Digits of your Vin into the search box it should call up your model, then search the sections for what you need there are small exploded drawings that may assist

If I recall your car does have an Emmissions Control system and EGR valve with it's assocciated pipework and gaskets worth checking as I was always told Fault Codes can often be symtoms not causes

Hope this helps
