Glad your sorted at last John maybe now you can enjoy your car at last 😁

For what it is worth Mercedes haven't always been so stellar I owned a 98 AMG E55 Estate which in 2000 was actuelly replaced by Mercedes due to rust issues!! The cars were fabulous but rust was a real problem with both the E55's changed it for a CLS AMG 63 Estate. Moved to BMW X5 when we sold the Horse Lorry and down sized to a Horse trailer. I never liked the shape of the ML

Enjoy your Beemer

Dave

Hi Dave. Yes,at last and hopefully it will stay dry.

I have just had the car washed and dryed at a local hand wash - car wash and hopefully that will produce a good result for my pension money investment towards keeping the car !!

As they say "Watch this space"😁

Dave

Hi Dave. Please excuse the delay in replying to your comment but it would appear that I have been suffering with temporary amnesia - I have been trying to sign-in with an incorrect forum ID.

Short answer - No.

I no longer have the 635d because I just could not get the drivers seat into a comfortable position  because of my rather short stature and shorter than normal torso.

The issue was especially a problem in tight traffic situations and with the door mirrors and the 'A' pillars being quite intrusive.

It was a very difficult decision but a few close shaves were far to risky with such a high insurance bracket (50 E) and a renewal figure of £785.00+ was what decided it in the end.

It turned out that the car had had a remap which clearly accounted for the exceptionally rapid propulsion over and above the manufactures stated 0-62mph.

It was returning very respectable fuel figures for such a poky piece of kit.

I PX'd it for a 10 plate Mercedes C220 CDI Elegance 170 bhp Blueefficiency Auto with 82,000 recorded miles.   It was registered to Mercedes Macclesfield as a demo car and then sold to a local doctor who kept it in pristine condition until it was sold to a local trader.
