Hi all. Can someone help pleases

im after a video of an e53 with working reversing sensors. Basically, I have repaired mine and it’s showing no faults, but it’s beeping and bleeping more than R2D2 on crack. …. Can you do a video with it not on, put it in reverse and then move so it picks stuff up so I can compare it to a normal car please! 😂

Here you go Stu don't know if this helps or not

Mine has decided it wants to warn people of its presence…. There is nothing around it. When I stand in front of the sensors individually they all click and the buzzer starts correctly, but move and it thinks the world is attacking it!

Hi Stu

Oerr that sounds bonkers are you sure you dont have one that is a little masked doesnt take much, the rear sensor on mine wassitting back about 1mm if that

They all seem correct and clean, and when it’s quiet, each sensor seems to work as it should. But as soon as you move, it goes mental and doesn’t pick up normal things like walls, just screams itself silly!
no faults are present an 1.4.0 and all sensors bring faults when unplugged. It’s driving me mad!

Morning Stu

The system is fairly simple sensors on each bumper a loom to conect them and the control unit tucked down by the battery. If the trailer is plugged in the rear sensors should be disabled if that is all working OK I would remove the control unit and check the plugs and pins where it is often gets moisture problems. I have changed a few over the years for friends and family last one was from Global parts and was £25 if I recall

Right! …. Changed the unit…. Still screaming away! lol.

all the sensors are clicking away happily but it seems to be the high pitched tone is constant and interrupted by the lower… so I’m assuming it’s a front sensor confusing the system.

any suggestions??

(apart from press the button to shut it up!) haha.

Ear Defenders 😅

Could well be a front sensor masked a little or possibly the sounder ? you getting nothing from 1.4.0 ?

Dave

Haha… I have ran out of ear defenders from children use! 😂

no faults showing on 1.4.0 or autel scanner.

I get faults when I unplug sensors.

I think I’ll buy a set of sensors and change the fronts… then see what happens.

The sounder doesn’t come on when I fault the system and I’m getting both tones so I assume the speakers are correct.

cheers mate!

I’m more concerned about the other cars… I have a 5’ Brazilian wife and a 2 ton car … 😂😂😂

Right… quick update… I have now replaced all sensors. They are all sat correctly and in position.. I have replaced the module in the boot. No faults are showing.
if the engine is off, I turn the key to 1 and put car in reverse… sits there quiet until I approach a sensor. They react correctly and give me a low tone for the rear, high tone for the front… beeps speeding up as I get closer…

start the car and put it in reverse with the engine running…. Beep boop, beep boop, beep boop… beep beep boop boop… then doesn’t warn me of the wall..

I can’t figure it out. No faults showing on any scanner, remove each sensor and it goes into fault, so as far as I can tell, all sensors are working, the wiring is working and the unit has been replaced. ..

Morning Stu

The fact that ignition on no engine everything is working but engine start causes the problem would to me suggest a chaffed wire in the starter circuit that is sending power to the sensors/sounder. Thinking out loud here, I would start with the sounder circuit. If the sounder is disabled do you get the visible warnings from the sensors?

Good morning and thanks for the advice as always.
when you say visible indicator, where is that? Does the led on the button blink in time to the sound?
I have an aftermarket head unit in the e53.

cheers! I’m about to pull it all out and let her touch park!

Hi Stu

I saw the headunit in your Video the sensors light up starting green and change colour the closer you get, that is what I meant by visible warning

Mine start Green then Yellow, Orange, Red, Thud (that one makes your face red)

Ah! Gotcha….
ignore them. That’s the overlay of the aftermarket camera. This has no influence on the sensors.
that’s the wallet guide to gauge how much damage will cost! 😂
