As far as I am aware as long as the battery fits dimensionally and is the correct capacity it only needs registering  to ensure correct charging.

You can check on www.realoem.com just put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box then check Electrical Section from memory AGM batteries were a standard fitting

      Morning Kevin Welcome to the Forum 2 years since the last service ??? Just because Dealers advertise 30k between services doesn't mean it is good for the car? it is good for the sales campaign (reduced cost for the customer) and while new means the car will take it. All sorts of things can start to fail with age (I know I am old) Spark Plugs I would take a bet that the ones in the car are original. Coil Packs can fail and degrade the ones on the car are probably 15 years old now. Google the Register of BMW Specialists there will be one near to you get them to carry out a FULL service and diagnostic scan. Yes it will cost a few ££ but will be a lot cheaper than the cost and agravation of changing the car. Dave
