Gear box failure
Hi everyone! We are experiencing the exact same issue with a 218 BMW Grand Tourer that we bought completely new from the BMW-dealership in Sweden in 2016. We got the first drive train malfunction warning after just 3500 miles (5000 km) and the BMW workshop told us that it was a faulty EGR-valvue. We have since then received numerous drive train malfunction warnings and had the ERG-valvue changed at least seven (7!) times. Now at 75 000 miles we got the warning again, the car became powerless and went in to limp mode. According to the BMW workshop the gearbox needs to be changed for a very expensive sum. My point is, having looked around at different forums, that I don´t think that those early warnings had to do or not only had to do with a faulty valvue but also involved the gear box. And i don´t think that the BMW mechanics were clevear enough to make that connection. So here we are, the insurance in Sweden only covers cost up to 10 years and 74 000 miles and I´m convinced that this fault has been there from the beginning, BMW wont help us at all. The intresting part is that we also own a BMW 218 Active Tourer, same gearbox, same motor, same year and mileage and we have never had a single problem (hope Í´m not jinxing it now). I have now asked the BMW workshop for the complete service history (we have done everything by the book) and the complete logbook and I`m hoping to find some evidence that this has been faulty from the beginning. However, I´m aldo really interested in getting in contact with BMW AG to tell our story. Yanson , do you remeber in which forum you found the information regarding the group complaint? Thanks! Anna -

Broken Telematic Unit Part Wanted
Hi all! Replaced my Telematic Unit Battery under the roof lining but broke the clip that holds the battery in! Unit working fine, with loads of gaffa tape holding it together, but really need a replacement battery door as I don't think it will last forever. Just thought, if anybody has replaced a broken unit and still have the duff one, could I have the battery door, providing it has the clip still in tact? Regards to all!! Ray. -

Faults: B7F316, 32D, 32B.
Thanks for all the help Dave. I have finally sorted it! I removed the Telematic Unit and took a closer look. The 4 terminals that connect to the fin were twisted and not aligned correctly. I fiddled around a bit and managed to sort these out. Next I checked the battery. The terminals were not actually touching the contacts when the lid was closed. This was mainly due to the fact that the clip on the lid had broken off and the lid was not closing fully to push the battery onto the contacts. So I bent the contacts out slightly, and stuck a piece of card on top of the battery and closed the lid and taped shut with some masking tape! Replaced the unit, connected the three cable connectors, and closed the tailgate. Waited a while and switched on the ignition and all the codes had cleared on there own!! No need to clear any faults. After checking all faults, nothing found!! After thinking that it could cost me a new Unit and Fin costing megga bucks, it cost nothing more than a new battery (£25) and a bit of elbow grease. Boy am I pleased!! I- 1

Sat Nav update
Hi All Billy Boy again. How Easy or Hard is it to update the Sat Nav on my 2016 2 Series Active Tourer 220i De Luxe. I am 88 years of age and find it a bit confusing at times with regarding "Down Loading and Up Loading" via USB or CD. Any Info with regards to this item would be appreciated. Regards...Billy Boy -

Check parking brake is ON warning
Hi Dave, Thanks for the info about my Check Parking Brake warning indication. I have had it fixed by BMW. I was overjoyed as it was fixed (at no charge) as I have a BMW Assured Insurance that covers this item. Just as well because BMW charge £160 just to plug in a code reader, I did not pay for this as it was covered by the Insurnce.a Service and MOT at the same time. I paid £411.00 for this Insurnce so it was money well spent. Many Thanks again for your input. Billy Boy
