Weird X5 Top End Noise
Hi, I'm new here. Thanks in advance if you can help! I just bought a S/H X5. 2002. 3.0 petrol. 120k miles. It's as sweet as a nut but there's a weird noise coming from the top end. It's intermittent. Seems to go away when the engine is hot. But alarming! Any comments would be much appreciated! Thanks, Norm -

Loss of power after service
Thanks Dave, the original map company don’t have a clue what could’ve happened as the garage shouldn’t have been able to do anything. I’ve got it booked in tomorrow somewhere else to take ECU out, see if the map is still there/gone dormant and remap if needed. I’ve just done a 500mile round trip fishing at the weekend to wales so I know for certain it’s not driving as it was and the fuel consumption for this journey I do 2-3 times a years has gone up as well as the car being lethargic. As for the headlamp washers…thanks, I’ll get new ones fitted.- 1

Loss of power after service
Morning William Welcome to the Forum First the headlamp washers, I beleive your headlamp washers are the same system as the E70. Which means you have a fuse to control the Headlamp washer pump but the actual washers are extended by water pressure retracted by spring, if they fail it's quicker and easier to just change them (I learned the hard way) As for the Map I think the only way forward will be to talk to the original Map installer they may know what has happened. Never heard of a simple service disturbing the ECU map but they may have seen or heard of it before (I did read on a Subaru Forum that a Garage tried to copy the map but that ended with a fried ECU) Dave
