Weird X5 Top End Noise
That’s a noisy bearing or tensioner as greydog said. Try different things like turn the AC on and off to see if there is any difference. Hopefully an easy one.! welcome to the petrol X5 world! -

hairline crack in coolant reservoir
Got to keep writing about this stuff, especially the plastic parts as they do degrade with pressure and temp cycles as I am discovering. Should probably be replaced each 60K miles Im thinking, just to be safe. The plastic oil filter holder lifeing was alerted to me by a canadian BMW specialist garage who I called in on when there to ask about the part. They were very informative and knowledgeable. Mind you the air temp swings there really do cause issues. I mean one day I was clocking 85 on the motorway and all was good and the next day I started the car and dropped the whole oil load on the drive. So so lucky on that one. -

Hi Norm Welcome to the Forum Sounds like a Tensioner needs replacing possibly water pump but the tensioners are the place I would start Dave -

Weird X5 Top End Noise
Hi, I'm new here. Thanks in advance if you can help! I just bought a S/H X5. 2002. 3.0 petrol. 120k miles. It's as sweet as a nut but there's a weird noise coming from the top end. It's intermittent. Seems to go away when the engine is hot. But alarming! Any comments would be much appreciated! Thanks, Norm -

Engine light on again. Injector problem?
Morning Stu Ouch!! Fuel pressure check would be my starting place. From memory (old and dodgy) should be around 50psi any thing lower will give the symptoms your getting If I remember Pelican Parts did some great write ups on Fuel delivery and pressure plus stuff on injector testing worth a look at their site I have been told it only hurts when you laugh 🤣 Get well soon Matey Dave- 1
