Gear selector issues
Hi all Newbie on here, I was wondering if anyone can help me out, I own a 2012 e70 4.0 the other day my Mrs started it up & the dash gave out a transmission failure reading, she couldn't get any gears or knock it out of park. I started it up next day & nothing showed up & it drove ok, i know a mechanic & he ran a diagnostic report on it, it flagged up with the code 00A82E Gws(gear selector switch) interlock E faulty. He said to chat to you guys first to see if there's a cheaper option than going to main dealer ?? Loving it bits apart from this, really appreciate any help 🙏 -

F11 520d touring rear suspension conversion to springs
Hello The rear suspension on my 5series has dropped again. I'm looking to replace the air suspension with springs. Has anyone else had experience with doing this? Does it affect the handling? This is going to be the second set of these I'll have had to replace and I've had the compressor trip out and blow fuses. So it seems like a no brainer to do away with the air suspension and not have the issues again. -

How to Run a Vehicle History Check for Classic Cars?
Hi everyone, I’m looking to buy a classic car and want to know how to get a detailed history check. I’m familiar with registration number checks for newer cars, but I’m unsure how they work for older ones, especially those with non-standard or shorter registration numbers. Are there any specific services or tools that specialize in classic car history reports? Any tips or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. -

I had an issue similar, the remote locking and the immobiliser are two separate issues. the dead battery in the fob won’t affect the immobiliser which is read by a benign chip in the key by the ring on the ignition barrel. the lights on the dash should illuminate when the key is turned regardless of the engine starting. if it doesn’t turn the dash on, I would look toward the sensor on the barrel. do the interior lights and seats move when you get in? Is there power through the car? when you get the car plugged into a reader, put the live data feed on and check the ews/ dme module. when the key is inserted into the barrel, the chip should be read and the key number displayed, I think the check boxes turn green too, then the car will start. If you are getting no green lights on the programme or key numbers come up, then it’s either the chip in the fob or the chip reader on the ignition barrel. I found this out the hard way after replacing everything including the ews and dme modules, locks, barrels and sensors…. Turned out to be a chip not being recognised, new key, new chip, programmed up and presto! hope this points you in the right direction -
