They usually melt when the coil pack has a constant 12v and earth. One side of the coil pack should have a constant 12v + and the other side will be pulsed earth by the ECU. Usually when they melt 12v + and - are constant due to a short. Make sure that the wiring from the ECU to the coil hasn't been trapped or is shorting to the engine.
