So let me get this straight. If I had a defective front seatbelt (As I did on my Alfa), If i was to remove ALL my seatbelts, they can't test hem because they are NOT there? is that waht your trying to say?

BTW. MY above post was auto-corrected incorectly  I ment to say 'Shenanigans' not 'Excellence' :S

EXACTLY- but UK law stipulates a restraining belt fitted to the front most seats (at least)... not mandatory in the rear lol

The Law does NOT specify certain items for scrutineering ... Refering you to the afore mentioned item

Not exactly Daz !

The seatbelt issue is defined by Law, by this, I mean that the Government in a particular Year declared that all new cars be fitted with both front and rear belts... And as new Laws cannot be back-dated, any vehicle built before that year would be exempt !!! You can apply this to many other car features such as Catalytic Converters, emissions, mirrors and others LOL

Lol. You've opened up a possible mine field for questions now. So if my door decided not to close on me on the day of the mot, it would fail as it's fitted. But if I took them off then it should pass as not all cars are fitted with doors from factory. I'd like to see the mot inspectors face if that happened. So what is the most you could strip a car before it would fail an mot do you think. Is something I would love to try for a laugh. Lol

I once cut the whole roof OFF an old Granada and welded some angle-iron across the B-pillars, then took it to a respectable local Garage for a LAFF...

ASK ME WHAT IT FAILED ON (because it did fail) ?

Yep, thats all :o

Lol. That's amazing. So as our cars start to get older and older and the risk of failing an mot becomes greater and greater. The best thing is to start taking those bits off instead of testing them. Lol that's great. But make sure the top seatbelt anchors stay though. Ha ha

No, you plonka  its a date-of-build issue, your doors are part of the "crumple zone" or have impact bars, nice try :P

Hahahaha Once chopped a Mini in half from the front seats and used a 5ltr container as a fuel supply... Now I KNEW that wouldn't pass an MOT as it had no rear lights  ... Wonder if I could've re-registered it as a motorcycle :P (2 wheels)
