Mine does exactly the same mate, but only the rear nearside speaker , as the front ones have stopped working.

But mine does it not very often, and does it while the stereo is on and off.

I think its just a loose connection, I must check it out one day.

No amp. Just the factory speakers and player. It just does it on the back two even if the radio is off. When i do have it on sometimes i can hear Music then it just goes away. I would give it a tap when driving and it would make all sorts of noises through the speakers in the back. They dont give a lot of room to work with on the wiring harness to see if there is any loose connections. Im just at a loss of where to start. It just started doing this yesterday. I opened the trunk but the connection to the two speakers back there were good. I noticed when i took it out i could tap on the case and it would go through the speakers also. Im thinking maybe a loose ground some where? If so where do you find it to check it out?

I took my radio out once to remove a hands free kit, it

Im going to look into it next wee.

But Val is probably right, we could end up tracing all cables back to find the problem.

I need to do this, as after xmas I want to upgrade my speakers.

well i opened up the player and took it all out and saw no problems with the circuit board or anything. put it back in and it starts to work again. i took the car out last night and on the way home it started acting up. so i leave it pluged in and pulled out off to the side while there was no static going through and messed with the wires in the harness and thats when it started doing it. they don't give a lot of room to work with it unless im guessing it goes up under neath the driver side where i will have to reach up in there and pull it out to actually see whats going on with it. so this could get interesting. guess we will see what happens. thanks and i'll keep you posted on what i find etc...

the harness should come out and you should have easy access to the back, guessing its a pin or wire in the iso connector into the unit.......if not its going to be a bit of a search of your wiring im afraid

I got to thinking about the pins back there but i even tried to see if i could maybe pull them out under the dash but still no room. By any chance can you pop those pins out one by one and look at the connections to see if it may need to be re soldered? I dont want to get them confused on where they all go if i pull them all out at once. There are 15 pins and it looks like you can push them out with a small screwdriver but i dont want to take any chances on messin something up. I know some friends who have dome it to other vehicles but i just dont know about these

Well i found the ground wire and amp in the back of the trunk driver side and everything was good. I moved around the wires that go into the amp and nothing. But, when i do that behind the head unit it will make all the noise. I have heard that the head unit could be bad although i can't imagine the harnes making it do that. I would think that if it was the harnes you would still get Music but it would just be distorted. That's what has me to believe that it is in the head unit. Any ideas if BMW can somehow test it before i decide to get a new one? Any info helps. Thanks
