hi can anyone point me in the right direction who insures old BMW, help needed

1984 is not old in the world of insurance. Classics get discount but yours will simply be 'cheap' with pretty much any insurer. Just find the cheapest on price comparison sites etc.. etc..

As Daz says... Avoid the "BIG-GUNS" like Aviva, AA, Direct Line and Admiral (among many others), as I don't want them to give you a cardiac at your age ;)
