December 11, 201113 yr Hi Guy's been looking for a nice rust free E36 323 coupe/ vert now for what seems like an eternity, have found a reasonable priced M spec 318is, with just over 110000 miles, apart from the obvious lower BHP, slighter cheaper ins and poss lower petrol costs, how does the engine reliabilty compare to the bullet proof straight six. My daily comute is 5-6 miles round trip and apart from hopefully attending a few shows next year it is not going to do a lot of miles.
December 11, 201113 yr thatl be most likly the same engine as mine, tbh there all pretty bullet proof engines, mines on 123k and has a few small probs but nothing major, just look after it and itll look after you
December 11, 201113 yr Out of the 2 Id go for the 323 for the tune-ability :) but I would say that :)
December 12, 201113 yr Never had a problem with the 318iS that was any fault of it's own engine is very much bulletproof!
December 12, 201113 yr If "Carlsberg" made engines they still wouldn't match any BMW. As has already been mentioned, if you maintain it well it could outlive you !
December 15, 201113 yr i wouldnt go for the 318 mate.slooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow as.the 323 is your best friend.the mpg wont be majorly different.insurance would be the biggest thing though
