BMW 320i E36 AUTO (1993) Ovefuelling problem after I accidentally put too much engine oil in car.

The wiring diagram states that the Relay is switched from the ECU. Is the ECU in this car a SRAIGHT PLUG IN or CODED(Dealership Job)..?

Thanks..

Kenny

  • EH? i am well confused! over filling an engine with engine oil would not make it run rich,

what are the symptons here?excessive smoke? burning of fuel?

we can sort it

Have much did u overfill it with oil?

As long as u ddnt experience 'piston slap' u may hopefully of gotten away with it?

Over filling can cause all sorts to fail.. Mostly gaskets..I can tell u this from experience lol

Is it overheating at all? Exhaust popping Or smoking as ian suggested?

Have a quick check of the spark plugs..

With regards to the overfuelling this will probably be the fuel to air mixture which will cause it to run rich.. Average i think is about 14.7 air to 1 fuel.

ECU's not doing its job right or could even be a dodgy MAF..not allowing enough air in.

Im thinking out loud here so Ill do a bit of research for you because im slightly confused =p

It could be a lambda,a temp sensor all manner of things

The ecu is coded to the ews which in turn coded to the key, however I will be nice to gav for one week if the ecu needs replacing
