X5 55 Plate Engine Check Light Question

Hi there new this site and hoping someone can help...... I have put a deposit down on a 55 plate BMW X5 and just want to check with an owner if the engine check light comes on and then goes off with all other ignition lights upon turning the key before starting car?

In the one I am hoping to buy all other ignition lights come on but engine check light doesnt come on at all- is this normal or something I should be concerned about???

Any help would be very much appreciated.

      X3 2.0 automatic

      Many thanks for the help I've hot the car booked in for a full health check but it seem that the transfer box oil as not been changed for nearly 3 years so I'm hoing to do that first to see if it helps

      hi , I had very similar problem a while back, and after a lot of testing with vista, it turned out to be a front R/H wheel , speed/wheel sensor. when it all was happing lots of codes were coming up gearbox, diff front and back, transever box,plus many more, didn't look good, but there was one code that repeatedly came up at the top of the list, at this point it was becoming undriveable ,it just didn't seem that a wheel sensor could cause all these codes. So I went got two wheel speed sensor, replaced driver side front, the problem never came back, the sensor controls so many systems ,cleared all codes, happy days, I could have pulled the car apart for nothing, and got nowhere, except an empty wallet. hope this helps you or someone.

      105C thermostat replacement

      As I understand the wiring diagrams and operation Item 9 on the thermostat housing is the sensor which sends its signal to the ECU for interpretation with information from the map sensor. Information from item 12 (1st drawing ) is also used to provide average temp across the cooling system. As far as I am aware the Thermostst is independent of the sensors and operated by expanding wax material internally
