Bmw E38 2000 728I - Couple Of Fault Codes

Been out to see some relatives tonight and the engine light popped on about 3miles from home

Plugged in my OBD II reader and used the Torque Pro app on my HTC and came up with the following 2 codes:

P0170 - Powertrain Fuel Trim (Bank 1)

P0173 - Powertrain Fuel Trim Malfunction (Bank 2)

Can someone please advise me on these and give me an idea of what may need replacing?

Hi

I have seen these codes on Mercedes it happens when the fuel enrichment exceeds parameters. The codes are normally caused by a Vacuum or air leak, or it could possibly be a dodgy O2 sensor.

My first checks would be looking for any air/vacuum leaks on the inlet/servo side, check and clean the MAF then reset and see if they return.
