Battery Discharge 650i
HI all, I have been suffering a slow discharge from the battery which has resulted in low cranking amps. Car isn't doing that many miles so put it down to low charging so set up a regular charge up practice. I think something is drawing on the battery. After a closer inspection I think it is the glove box light...why? I am assuming the glove box light is activated when the opener is released and the two sprung clips release from the bars located in the opening part. I am assuming this as I can't see any other sprung clip that activates the glove box light. However, when I press these sprung clips in by hand, either together or separately, the light stays on. This would explain why I am experiencing this slow draw on the battery. Does this sound correct or is there some other sensor that controls the light on/off in the glove box. Seems my only solution would be to remove the bulb in the glove box which is no big deal. -

Using manual key all the time for open water swimming?
I reguarly open water swim and now I have a 2021 BMW 1 series (my old car was very old so not a concern), no longer feel comfortable leaving my key in my swimming bag on the beach/lakeside. I've looked at a portable key safe but they are very heavy and you need a really big one to fit the BMW key fob in. I've seen how I can separate the manual key and use that to open the car. Could I do this all the time and lock the electronic key fob hidden inside the car? Or would that cause electronic issues if the car knows its manually locked with its electronic key fob inside. It's a bit unclear as videos that show how to separate and use the manual key assume the key fob battery is flat. I also wouldn't want to damage the protective cover on the door handle, so could I leave this off? The manual key is much more hideable and I'm also assuming I could swim with it as it won't mind getting wet? -

Bmw 118d f20 2011 clunking sound from driverside wheel area
Hi Daniel Welcome to the Forum From your description if the noise only happens in one gear and at certain revs it would seem to me to point towards a Gearbox problem A gearbox service may help but to be certain you would need the help of a Gearbox specialist. Or if you have DIY skills you could fit an exchange box yourself (don't forget new clutch) Dave -

Bmw 118d f20 2011 clunking sound from driverside wheel area
Bmw 118d clunking noise (like driving on cats eyes on motorway) but only in top end of second gear? Every other gear is fine at any speed but when pushing it say between 3-4k revs it does that noise, not all the time but a majority of the time and only in top end of second
