Hi I am considering buying a 2006 X5. It has most of the goodies I want but it does not have heated seats.

We own an Audi which has cloth seats, and I am wondering how useful/essential heating seats would be.

Also is it possible to get the existing seats fitted with heating units.

Any responses would be appreciated.

More than possible as the loom should be there, maybe a case of sourcing the button set though...

I don't know if '06 is late E53 o early E70 but for the E53 you cannot retro-fit heated seats,I know coz I

want to do it to mine and it's a real pain.

The wiring and switches can be done easily, but the problem is that the element for the seats is actually

sewn into the seat leather, where as other E models it's a separate pad that can be put in between the

bolster and the material.

So the only way to get heated seats in an E53 is to buy 2/h ones that have come from a car that was

factory fitted with them.

Not ! Buy the seats second hand out of a wrecker ;)...

We are now the proud owner of an X5 (need to amend my user details accordingly).

We have not found the seats cold but that may be due to the mild weather we are having. They seem very comfortable possibly because they are Nappa? leather. I did not know what that was until we bought the car. We are more than happy with the car and the seats.

The car drives very well.

Thanks for the advice we have received.
