As the regular members know, Gav's lovely E46 330Ci broke. So, being the knackers we are, we wanted to rip it's guts out. As I always say, the only way to find out how something works is to break it, cry a little, move on then rip it to bits

Fun day indeed,

A cup of brown water and a brekky from the cafe later, we began.

Take note of the snow on the winds screen. Yes, SNOW! Blimmin coooooold

The prep work began the evening before as seen from the mugs and stella. Had a good think about how we plan tackle this. Most of it was stripped already but the goal was to GET IT OUT! (And have a laugh)

Gav went first...

Un-bolt the transmission mounts, Prop coupling and roll bar to let the engine rock back and forth. Important if you want easy access to the transmission bolts. Also important as the starter motor needs ripping out to lock the flywheel.

You need to lock the flywheel to get this cocking bolt out!

Few more bolts and she's coming out! - Firstly, feed the inner knacker in you and DON'T waste money on an engine crane. Cut the seat belts out the car, Strap it around the engine, pose for a photo, then PULL!

Little persuasion and your engines on the floor

Best bit by far :P Once the lumps on the floor and free from the car. Just strip it to it's bare-bones. Apparently, a screw driver and a hammer are the weapons of choice

After getting through a large bottle of JD the night before, this is THE BEST cure for a hangover!

Plenty of things to do with an engine that's not sitting under a bonnet.

+ Sit there and look at it

+ Sell bits'n'bobs on fleabay

+ Make love to it

+ Put it into another car. Preferably a car it doesn't fit in as, that's funnererer

+ Rebuild it with cheap aftermarket parts and look forward to fixing it when it breaks again, as ya do...

+ Like Gav (above) make a cool table with the block because... you can...

Needing our next fix, we looked at Gav's Slammed E46 tourer but eventually agreed to leave it alone and go after a nice V8 next =]

Overall, I can't think of a better way to spend a day =]

Anyone else just, got up one morning and felt like getting knee deep in used engine oil for no real reason other then to... pull something apart?

Share your similar experiences :)

Fantastic day.

Daz is a wealth of knowledge when I comes to engines.

Thanks for making the 3 hour trip up Daz.
