Hi all enthusiast BMW owners, first of all, thanks for a great forum. I am completely new in here, and joined as I am considering getting an E60 M5.

I hav reached the conclusion that a m5 would be better suitet than a m6, as I can even get friends and family along for a ride when visiting.

I have read in some forums that there are challenges with the SMG gear box on 2006 models, and that this should be dealt with in the 2007 models.

It would be great to learn from your experiences regarding e60 m5- what should I be looking out for, what type of gear box is the better one, what type of guarantees are available in the UK, and how to get the best price on insurance? I am a 31 year old Norwegian, so I have never owened a car in the UK.

All tips are greatly appreciated!! If there are regular meet-ups, I will be looking forward to meeting some of you there.

Thank you so much for your assistance.

Kind regards,

Christopher (Putney)
