Hi i got a 2000 e46 318i saloon with the 1.9 m43 engine the other day my starter packed up and i was just wondering if anyone had any experience with starter motor replacement on this model if you can tell me where its located and how difficult it is to get to and replace. its just im taking it to my local garage and id like have a rough idea how long it will take and how much it will cost thanks in advance.

From memory the best access to the starter motor on the M43TU is from under the car once the undershield is removed. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong on this :)

The last time I looked at one access was improved by easing the fuel hoses out of the way, it was a long time ago though.
