  1. Cheers Guys. I really appreciate your input. I have found two batteries on the internet on relevant sites. One at £200 and another at £100. Both are known brands and the only difference is one has a four year guarantee where as the other has 5. I know which one I'll be buying.
  2. Morning Guys. Would anyone know how many batteries the 2005 520 diesel has? My wife tells me a symbol comes on the dash on cold mornings which she 'thinks' is battery related. I have noticed that the time and date needs re-inputting on the odd occasion and that lead me to think the battery is on the way out. My local garage (which isn't bmw) told me that it may have 2 on board batteries. That sounds odd as I have never heard of it before? Also, when you replace the battery do you have to re-programme the on board computer to 'tell it' there is a new power supply? Many thanks for any help.regards,steve.
  3. I dont like the sound of that Gav.You've put me off already.
  4. Hi guys.Has anyone replaced their rear discs and pads? I hear the pistons have to be 'rotated' back into the caliper and if you go too far you can break them. Is there any truth in this? I can get the parts for £100 and a local dealership want £300.Daylight robbery.
  5. Cheers mate.I will find out what bushes he was talking about although I'm not usually that lucky!!
  6. Hi Gav.It's a 520D saloon and it was registered in oct 2005.Hope that helps.
  7. I dont mind driving to Birmingham Gav or I could do the job myself if I had the bushes posted to me.It has to be cheaper than the quote I've had.£982 for both wishbones, ball joints, labour and wheel alignment. That is plain stupid !!
  8. I live just outside Lincoln. It wasn't a main dealership but an independant bmw garage that told me you have to buy the whole lot.£400 parts cost alone seems a bit steep to me.Thanks for the welcome and the answers.
  9. Hi All.I am new to the site and besides wanting to say hello I wondered if anyone would know if there is a cheap way to replace the rear wishbone bushes on my 520 without buying new rear wishbones.I had the car in for a service today and the garage reckon Bmw don't sell the bushes seperately so it's £400 for two rear wishbones (without labour, vat etc).Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
  10. Dexxy,Iv'e just joined this site and I have considered it before but have been told it's not just a straight swap because of the warning system associated with the runflat tyres. Is this true or can you just swap the tyres?many thanks.
