  1. IMG_9899.mov Mine has decided it wants to warn people of its presence…. There is nothing around it. When I stand in front of the sensors individually they all click and the buzzer starts correctly, but move and it thinks the world is attacking it!
  2. My old company motto was , nothing is impossible, it just costs a lot more. im sure with a few tweaks you could do what you feel….. I have seen a 27litre tank engine in a rover p1 before 🫡
  3. Morning Mr Kris, welcome to the forum. if the engine turns out to be a bit sick, it’s a good excuse to go and see quarry motors and pick an engine, make it fit and have fun…. If you’re going to spend money fixing an engine, get a bigger, running one and spend the time shoehorning it in… the wife won’t know what you are doing and you can use the excuse you are saving money by fixing the old one! enjoy! 😉
  4. Hi all. Can someone help pleases im after a video of an e53 with working reversing sensors. Basically, I have repaired mine and it’s showing no faults, but it’s beeping and bleeping more than R2D2 on crack. …. Can you do a video with it not on, put it in reverse and then move so it picks stuff up so I can compare it to a normal car please! 😂
  5. It all comes as one kit. I think my thrust bearing went so I just swapped the lot… £600 for a clutch is a good price.
  6. ….. ah!,….. I wanted the De Cat model 😔😂😂😂
  7. Is this one the right model throttlebody? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
  8. Hi paneuro, im guessing yours is a dual mass flywheel… if it is, you are looking around £500 for the clutch plus fitting… standard one is around £200 for the kit. I had my e46 dual mass replaced for about £850 if I remember. Any decent garage should be able to do the job.
  9. What on Gods great earth did I unleash??? I thought the car was a bit lumpy, but blimey! It must have been choking itself silly… took the bm out with its new throttle body for a test run and it’s never moved so fast! It’s found about 100 horses under there! happy man about to lose his license! 😂😂😂
  10. Finally got round to doing the throttle body… took 2 hours and a bit of swearing. Kids stayed indoors this time as it was raining. managed to remove it by undoing the bolts and elbow hose, then pulling and swivelling it to the rear. Plugged the new (second hand ) one in and fired it up…. All warning lights still on,… plugged in 1.4.0 program and scanned for saved faults, cleared all faults and took it for a spin. I’m not sure if it has been down on power for a while but blimey, off like a rabid whippet! ill take it for a longer run tomorrow but staggering difference and idle is fine, revs are fine and no warnings . as a bonus, I also managed to swap the faulty parking sensor so that works now…. That will confuse the wife! 😂🫡
  11. I left mine to play in the caravan last week while I did the door lock…. They painted it with white emulsion. 😂
  12. I’ll lock mine in the conservatory and put frozen on…. Should keep them quiet for a little while!
  13. Hi all, can I get some advice please. how easy is it to replace the throttle body on the 3.0 petrol engine… I believe it’s the m42? any guides? Pelican or the internet shows me nothing and I have about an hour on Saturday to replace it with a set of tools and probably 2 young screaming kids around… no pressure as always!
  14. God afternoon David and welcome to the forum. very nice car and a good colour choice! it’s been a while since I modded exhausts but I’m sure power flow or similar can give you what you need
  15. Any more issues?… my bmw ownership is like trigger’s broom. … let’s see what tomorrow brings!
  16. Yeah… if I’m getting one it has to be the 4.8 V8 version… if not, I would just buy a VW 😂
  17. Another little patience tester….. went to the car on Saturday morning and the door wouldn’t open. Handle was sticking out a little and would not release the door. All the other doors were fine so I tried the inside.. door opened fine. after a bit of head scratching and googling, I came to the conclusion that the door handle retainer had broken. A Quick Look on Amazon and £25 and 24 hours later I had the part. there are a couple of vids online that show you how to replace it. It’s a bit fiddly but after a brief amount of swearing and an hour the door now works again! success! …. Until the next episodes… I think the cars got the hump with us since we made it pull a caravan and talked about getting a Porsche cayenne 😂
  18. Hi all… back again! e53 3l petrol 2002 model. I thought it was down to a battery issue, but it’s fully charged and checks fine with my tester and a yuasa battery tester. No bad cells or anything… the car randomly goes into limp mode and the three lights of brake, abs and stop start come on. Took the car for its mot and it was fine. Started at the garage and went nuts… reset it and all good for a few minutes before playing up again. code keeps saying throttle sensor issue and calibration tolerance exceeded and now a new one saying maf to throttle position incompatible or something… am I right in thinking a throttle body replacement is on the horizon? no splits in any of the intake pipes and no leaks around the maf. I stuck some carb cleaner in there but I’m thinking the throttle position sensor might be on its way out. anyone had this issue before?
  19. … and there we have it! £25 from the main dealership. RHD bonnet release mechanism. not listed on realoem or any data sheets according to the parts guy…. He found it by ‘googling and guessing’! lol ….also answers my other question about running a cable from the engine bay to the dash! #winner!
  20. Update! turns out i was not being silly! the actual Uk part number is 51238402614. it is specific to RHD cars and not on the parts lists. ( bmw have it as 615 showing the LHD version, which is all people seem to stock. ) picking one up from my next local dealership this week for £25! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
  21. As my old company motto said… ‘ nothing is impossible, it just costs a lot more’ I have seen a rover P1 with a 27 litre tank engine in it! 😂
  22. Hi Dave, thanks as always! its definitely the unit that has failed. I broke the cable stop part off trying to frantically open the bonnet.. I’ll also replace the cable as that has seen better days. I’ll give quarry a try, no seller online seems to understand left and right? It can’t be the same part as it must fit mirror image. I don’t get on with my local dealership after they found my car had been written off and dodgy repaired and told me it was worthless…. They sold me it a month before (that’s another story) and gave it a 100,000 point check or something! anyways… I’ll be sorting it myself….. now to open the bonnet again!!
  23. This bit! …. Basically, this bolts to the footwell and the lever attaches to the cam. Pulling the lever (cam will go clockwise if it’s on the left) will pull the cable and release the bonnet. if I mount it on the right hand footwell, I would have to push the lever in, not pull it… or there must be a mirror image part for Uk spec?
  24. Hi Dave… basically when the expansion tank blew last week, I pulled the lever in the footwell a little too well! 😂…. What has broken is the cable end stop on the mounting plate in the footwell… the white plastic thing. I will have to replace the inner and outer cable too, but that’s an easy bit. the websites all show the part with the lever on the right of it, pulling the cable clockwise to open. The Uk version needs to go anticlockwise as it’s on the right hand side. hopefully it makes sense now.
  25. Afternoon all.! silly question, but I have snapped the mounting plate for the bonnet release catch. looking online and realoem shows a part but it’s fitted on the lhd model, which would surely work back to front on the Uk spec RHD model? I can’t find another rhd part code or replacement part. am I missing something, or do both parts fit ?
