Hi Paul, just replaced 2 budget tyres on the wife's Zafira for 2 Kumo's can't really feel any difference other than price, personally I like matching tyres on each axel and if poss the same all round, my tyre of choice for the last few years has been Falken, that said put 2 on my wife's old galaxy and they only lasted 6000 miles as apposed to double this on my E36, have you googled reviews for Autogrip ?, hope this helps

up for this my first and prob the only meet I will be able to make, is there going to be a club stand, went a few years ago and the car park was miles away from the show, (a bit of a stroll anyway)

cleaning finished except for a good exterior polish, going to get a small rust bubble on edge of boot lid and small ding on the bonnet painted in the next week or two, funds permitting and my paint guy always moans about the ammount of polish on my car as it reacts with the paint. Hi Dan, welcome to the club, had a problem with parking sensors on previous X5, not sure if it is the same set up on 3 series, mine was one faulty sensor that stopped the whole lot from working, if you park in a quiet spot and put car in reverse with ignition on you sould be able to hear a ticking noise from each sensor, any that are not ticking may be fault. In my case they all ticked and I only found the faulty one by having the car plugged into a BMW diagnostic at a local specialist

looking for some upgrade headlight bulbs to go in my crystal angel eye head lights, looking to swap the yellow look ones for some nice white look bulbs, any recomendations as the last ones i had from halfords were brighter but still looked yellow

after what seems to be a lifetime (16mnths) the seach for a rot free E36 m spec coupe is over and i have bought another 323 vert, in steel blue met, almost identical to the one I got rid of. So far I have fitted a k&N panel filter, angel eye head lights, strut brace, AC Schnitzer gear kob and CD player which have been paitently waiting in the garage for a new home. 1/2 way through cleaning but having to have a few days off due to illness and also a small leak in roof which hopefully is due to a blocked drain at the top of the windscreen pillar. Looking to getting her in for a service ASAP and to check the 2 advisories that havent been done from the last MOT,

Hi Guy's been looking for a nice rust free E36 323 coupe/ vert now for what seems like an eternity, have found a reasonable priced M spec 318is, with just over 110000 miles, apart from the obvious lower BHP, slighter cheaper ins and poss lower petrol costs, how does the engine reliabilty compare to the bullet proof straight six. My daily comute is 5-6 miles round trip and apart from hopefully attending a few shows next year it is not going to do a lot of miles.

havent been on for a while as after 3 short months the X has gone to a new home and left a huge BMW size hole to fill, gonna check in from time to time, hoping to get my hands on another nice E36 coupe or cab when funds allow as all funds from the X5 have gone to the wifes new Vau.....Vauxh........Vauxhall Zafira, couldn't quite bring myself to say it :lol: keep up the good work guys and thanks for all the advice

One of these sorted out my key on the X, can't remember which one tho, and as already mentioned the key charges of the ignition when driving BMW X5 - Key Remote Programming Three methods to try: Method 1: 1. Working from within the vehicle and with the doors shut 2. Turn ignition to position 1 and back to off within 5 seconds. 3. Remove the key from ignition and press and hold the unlock button for 15 seconds during this time press the key lock button 3 times within 5 seconds. 4. Release both buttons. 5. Doors will lock and unlock to show correct programming has occurred. Method 2: To do this procedure you need to have one working key and one key that needs to be programmed. 1) Get in and close all doors. 2) Turn on the ignition and turn off quickly. (No more than 5 seconds) to start the process. Next action must take place within 30 seconds. 3) Remove the 1st key. 4) Hold the key up near your left shoulder (this is so it is closer to the remote receiver antenna. 5) Hold down the unlock button and press the lock button 3 times. Release the unlock button and the doors lock which confirms the operation. 6) Quickly repeat steps 4 & 5 for key #2 etc. If it does not work, try doing the keys in opposite order. Key 2 then key 1, vs 1 then 2. Method 3: Alternate if you do not have a working remote 1. Turn key to position 1 five times very quickly 2. Remove key 3. Hold unlock button then press lock button 3 times, release unlock button. 4. If you have another key do the same button pressing within 30 seconds 5. Turn on ignition to finalise. PLEASE NOTE: This programming procedure programs the remote control part of the key. Any transponder chip for the immobiliser (starting of car) will not be programmed and must be done by a specialist.

driven 320s, 323s and a 520 in the snow, deffinatley an interesting experience, although not as much of a brown trouser moment as spinning the 520 360 degrees in the wet. Looking forward to giving the X a spin in the white stuff if we havent parted company before it arrives. Anyone used winter tyres, if so is there a great improvement as I live on the top of a big hill/ side road which dosent get gritted.

not sure if youve got the same bumper set up as mine, managed to get at the back of mine by removing the tow eye cover, and squeezing metal clips in and pushing forward.

finally got faulty parking sensors fixed, turned out to be front number plate sensor, had to take the X to local specialist as I had a warning light on dash, turned out I'd left the oil filler cap off, didn't I feel like a dipstick, that will be £40 quid please. On the plus side also diagnosed the above, got a OEM sensor of ebay for £40 and fitted in about 10mins without having to remove the front bumper.

before purchasing the x5 read that some owners where experiencing excessive oil consumption, as I have owned several BMs before and never had any oil problems(never needed to top up between oil changes) did not worry to much about this. Had the oil changed just after purchasing @ 102906 miles, by 104783 miles had used the remaining 2.5litres from the service plus an additional litre. Just got back from a round trip to Manchester Airport 544 miles and it has used another litre of oil. So the first 3.5 litres averages out at 1/2 litre to 288 miles mixed driving and the most recent litre averages out to 272 miles per litre motorway driving. There is no obvious oil leaks and no oil on drivre or garage floor. Starting to worry that this could be the start of an engine issue not to mention at this rate I'm gonna be putting 5 litres of oil in every 5 to 6 months of normal usage. I'm using Carlube 5w30 longlife fully synthetic oil from GSF. Anyone else experiencing oil consumption like this.

Same as Christian, been using the meguires 3 step system for 2 years +, nothing else I have tried comes close, excellent water beeding and any dirt just washes away. Bit of hard work as you are effectively polishing the car 3 times plus I would recommend washing, claying and washing again before the 3 step. I also use quick detailer in between to top up the shine B)

Had the X for nearly 7 weeks now, so far she has had a service inc new discs and pads allround, new handbrake and balljoint. Hopefully she is back from her last visit to the garage for a while so my wallet can have a rest lol. Finally got round to giving her a good going over, starting with an engine steam, outside - Maguiars gold class wash/ shampoo/ condition, clay kit, scratch X and 3 step paint cleaner, polish and carnauba wax. Iinside - Meguiars carpet cleaner, leather cleaner/ conditioner and finished of with some endurance gel. Mods to date:- AC Schnitzer short shift gearknob Sony CD plsyer black calipers Iphone tom tom kit Still got faulty parking sensors to sort, grill to paint black and wheels need refurbing or replacing. Also toying with a gas conversion.
