Tyre pressures are spot on, car is running in the mid 70's when warm so looks if the thermostats are failing, booked in next week for them to be changed, fingers crossed this solves the poor MPG

Alloy Wheel/ Offset
looking to upgrade the standard 16" alloys to 17" or 18", tyres will be either 215/45/17 or 225/40/18, would like to stay oem. The standard offset is ET34, looking at a few sets that have varying offsets of ET33, ET38, ET40, ET43 & ET47. They are all 3 series wheels with the correct PCD. Does the higher offset (ET) push the wheels out into the arches away from the brakes etc or is it the other way around. Would changing the offset upset the handling. Cheers

Changed the air filter the weekend, ##### of a job, had to remove loads of plastic covers and strut brace to get to it (think I had every type of socket, screw driver I own out ), its now showing 28-30mpg around town. Also figured out how to get into hidden menu on the on board computer, will be having a bit of a run tomorrow to check what the engine temp is and establish if thermostats are working correctly

Nice head unit, a bit lacking on connections lol, been a while since I did anything other than change a head unit, you should be able to get a 3 way component set up inc crossovers for the front that will connect to the head units front speakers. As for the rears you could go for normal 2 or 3 way speakers again wired to the head units rear speakers and plug the sub into the sub out if it has a RCA connection on it. Alternatively as the head unit has a front and rear out you could connect amps to run all the speakers. Either way it should be a big improvement over the standard set up. BOOM BOOM shake the room :)

Trip showing 25 mpg around town with normal driving so something is up :(, having a little read on the net and it may be a failing thermostats, resulting in the engine not warming up enough. It was serviced a few thousand miles ago gonna check air filter first to make sure it's ok and go from there

just filled the oil buner up and she has only managed 35MPG, this is based on 200miles motorway miles (approx 1/4 a tank of diesel) and 230 miles around town (approx 3/4 tank of diesel), based on the 1/4 tank motorway miles was hoping for more MPG overall and somewhere in the mid 30's for around town only. What are you other diesel owners getting.

I Phone - I Pod
I've been looking into this for my 2005 3 series, there's various connection kits available with varying prices. BMW do an iconnect kit which looks really nice installed but is expensive. Mine has an aux in port (3.5mm jack) in the arm rest storage area and 12v socket, just ordered a iphone to 3.5mm/USB lead and 12v charger from Amazon for £3.50, will still have to select tracks from the iPod tho. If it sounds ok, may buy a iPod nano 6th gen and fit in ash tray. As yours is a newer model you may have a 3.5mm aux in and USB which may allow control over the iPod.
