  1. Well got the 240 back yesterday, have to say excellent service from the main dealer repair centre. New wheel looks great, top pic. Wish I could afford the other 3! Going to see who can match the other ones properly. A front one pictured, not that bad I suppose. Alignment all checked etc. Glad it's back
  2. It certainly made a bang, it was no more than 30mph and was over so quickly hard to know exactly what happened. I think the front nearside went up and straight over the kerb then I corrected steering and and the back may have hit the kerb obliquely? It was also on a busy road so I had to get car clear as carefully as I could so couldn't stop. I'm so gutted about it and just hope there are no other problems but it is being fixed by BMW dealer so they should be doing it right.
  3. Just heard from accident repair centre, needs a wheel, a bearing and a shaft?? Plus a tyre obviously, be two weeks before ready, thankfully have the wife's car. Is that a drive shaft? Ta
  4. Yep I agree re the dealer, the pain is I've been looking at getting the wheels refurbed, just haven't settled on a place. I suppose if I get a new wheel the others can be matched to it or near enough. I will make sure the alignment is checked as well. As u say that's what insurance is for. The day was going too well! Dave
  5. Today for first time ever in avoiding a cat I hit a kerb bursting my rear nearside tyre and scraping the wheel quite badly on my 2019 240i. Fortunately I was close to an industrial estate so got parked ok and phoned LV breakdown service who put me onto the insurance side. Car was quickly recovered and is being taken to BMW main dealer tomorrow as an approved repairer. I'm really gutted but could have been a lot worse, will BMW try repairing the wheel does anyone think rather than replacing it? Never had this situation so bit anxious, I'm hoping I can pay it rather than make an insurance claim but can't imagine it will be cheap. Any views appreciated. Thanks Dave
  6. Thank you Dave, I'll give it some thought, I'd have to get a friend in the Midlands area inspect and collect which isn't ideal, just too far away for me. I don't think they will sell quickly given time of year so I'm in no rush, best wishes for Xmas and 2025
  7. Hi, just looking for some advice, my 2019 240i has these wheels as standard, they are a bit tarnished and i was considering refurbing them There is a set from a 240 M sport on ebay, they look mint but have black gloss inserts. I don't see them as an option in my brochure, but the sizes look identical. Would these be a good purchase or should I go back to refurb of mine? Thankyou Dave
  8. Thanks very much for welcome, I've done the history search via BMW dealer and there's none there! As the one previous owner was a sales manager for a large franchise, I'm thinking they did the servicing but maybe didn't have access to the BMW system to update it. I'm getting it serviced at main dealer next month and that will allow me to purchase a warranty from BMW or possibly elsewhere as BMW warranty dept pretty useless so far. Just back from 3 days in Yorkshire and it is an amazing car to drive for sure! Cheers Dave
  9. Hi Guys Big believer in owners clubs, I've just bought a 69 reg 240i with only 27K from Evans Halshaw, I am loving it but need to sort out missing service history and get a proper warranty in place. I'm retired and have had various nice cars, Boxster, Golf R, Mazda MPS, but just decided I wanted a last hurrah while I'm still fit! So far I am loving this car, it is so quick and smooth and apart from a tiny ding in boot, I can't see a mark on it. Please forgive me if I ask lots of stupid questions. Dave
