  1. Thanks Simon I think the point I was making was I'm about to travel up to the Lake District in a week it's about 175 miles or so all at speed two up plus dog and luggage and her hair dryer and your right about the temperature bit and that's the point arriving with cool tyres means they did not reach the possible air increase of up too 5/7 psi so possibly reduced tyre wear that's about all really any thing these days to save beer money Regards Chippy.
  2. Hi guys please go to 5 Series forum and read my ramblings on this topic.
  3. Hi guys Not posted for a while but I thought you should be informed I had a small screw in my rear tyre so went to Kwick fit on Sunday afternoon, puncture repaired I was offered reflation of nitrogen at an extra £1.50, well air planes and F1 cars why not me . He explained that same pressures applies benefits are longer tyre life ( I took that with a pinch of salt ) But as nitrogen molecules are larger than oxygen, gasses escape slower through the tyre walls /valve or slow punctures claiming that a possible 1PSI a month will escape compared to air so the tyre should last longer because its inflated correctly for longer ,also nitrogen has no moisture content so no internal corrosion of the rim.so I had the other tyres deflated and gassed up, its going to be the way to go apparently BMW must be aware of this so why not standard on our new cars!! So while were on the subject of wheels I require a spare 18inch ally wheel with just legal tread as a get me home spare,, money waiting, maybe you've got 4 Im sure 3 others need a spare after junking run flats, those space savers are hugely over priced £200+ Please contact me on 07795422420 if you've got one Regards Mick.
  4. Thanks Dabsy Seams like that's common knowledge to those in the know it will be interesting if BMW will make it official and amend there service advice and save long term problems and there good name come on BMW reply!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. Hi guys I'm a little concerned about some conflicting information, twice now I've read about changing your oil and filter every 8-10 thousand miles as a answer to a question in the latest copy of straight six mag, this is to prevent carbon build up in side the turbo and shorting its life considerably not mentioned in the bmw service book or schedule , Is this for oldish turbos or all turbos my F10 has only done 24000 as yet and serviced at 18000 as per the service intervals. So should I change oil in couple of thousand miles, I intend to keep my baby for a long time so the future is quite important. So over to you. Regards Chippy

I've tried every thing, washing up liquid, carpet spray cleaner, but it still looks grubby, especially when wearing white is there any specialist cleaners among us, its basically only from oily skin, but its winding me up now. ll try any thing that's legal and not to funny. 13. Hi Ginge Im glad things are on the up being self employed i know its an up hill climb, the main thing i replied was, a hang over from my keen days as a photographer photos tell everything about the subject. so look all around the view finder before pushing the button you'll soon see things that shouldn't be in the pic, and then they will be impressive. All my best wishers for your new adventure Regards MICK.......

  15. Bin A carpenter for 43 years ,7 of those wear on gas platforms in southern north sea working in the accommodation, then out to meet the helicopters, and banks man for the crane when the supply ship came..Also made the dizzy heights of site manager in the city of London on 1,000,000 projects just of Oxford St. But I've done my fair share of, up to your arm pits in drains, down toilets and a year at an abattoir, and its gut rendering factory... IVE BEEN EVERY WERE MAN even 4 weeks in the mountains of Tuscany, though I was becoming a hermit, Known as the mad checky English man after strutting around her shop as a chicken when I wanted some eggs,YES she really made me do it, although I think she new straight away what I wanted. So only 5 years left now to help put the government back on it feet,. single handed with my income tax mmmmm............
  16. HiPaul You are looking to buy what was a very expensive car, with the common knowledge that when things go wrong they can make you new pride and joy go into negative equity almost over night, it dose not have to be major work either. If your handy around an engine and confident about maintaining brakes, and importantly is not your only means to get to work then go for it and best of luck, other wise save a bit more WONGA and go for something honest, newer, and at a dealer so you will have at least piece of mind. It looks as though you have the will to walk away so carry on there are hundreds of good BMWs awaiting new homes, good luck. Chippy...........
  17. Hi all again! WE could go on all night about the good and damned right destruction of some community and some industries To just inform any body whose interested that for every 1 ton of coal or steel and grain that our miners ect produced the government of the day paid a subsidy to these producers whose the government well surprise surprise its US the good old tax payer. It is suggested that she was elected because of success in the Falklands, its possible, she was a victim of the IRA and lost close friends to them A N , She also fought the money grabbing eurocrats in the common market with great success.Just to finish have you ever worked for a woman, well ill tell you they are hell, they want what they want and have the power and clout to get it. I have found this to my cost many times, Dont worry its all history now.....
  18. HI all Well ill be 60 in Aug and can remember most of what went on, it did not matter that it was Maggie, or Fred Blogs, some thing had to be done, we all know the stories about 5 council workers looking down a hole while one was digging, or getting a life job on the dust carts, it could "nt go on all PM s do some things wrong, in your eyes, and a stroke of genius for others. As know she took power after a disastrous time under labour, and to do what is right was painfull !!! I am a Carpenter she rected the building trade, and to get a job most of us had to go self employed, and they played us of against each other, So im no fan, but looking at the bigger picture as I said to start with some one had too, (THATS TO SAY ALL THE BOYS CLUBS AND UNIONS ECT,) Crap I could go on all night sorry! Im disappointed that some people are so venomous about her more than some of our latest killers child molesters know what I mean.....
  19. BMW 525d- Chrysler voyager, stripped out for work (make a great van) Suzuki 600 Bandit and wifes new feista
  20. Hi Alan I asked the same question some time ago not a lot of feed back. So I bit the bullet and changed mine it was on a F10 525d and am delighted with the softer ride and obvious cost mine were about £850 for all 4 wanted to do 2 at a time starting with the fronts but told un wise as it will upset the steering geometry with R.F.T.s on the rear so I was committed. Continentals were my only option because of there size. I was told they were Jaguar size and fit. I was bombarded with horror stores about informing my insurance company but the man in MOMBI he said why are you telling me this!!!! well if they are the right size and specification all will be well saab LOL. Only down side is with there softer tyre walls, it feel a little rolley when cornering under good strain, know what I meen!!!!! Hope my tale is of some use Regards chippy
  21. I'm sorry dude, I have just gone through your web page and saw a lot of poor, inane photos with no explanation or thread, I don't deny your capability! or dedication!and enthusiasm, but looking past your photos, the facilities that you are working in does not impress, or raise willingness to hand over my pride and joy to be worked on, with all that junk, tools all over the leaf strewn floor. How do you find any thing. I am a carpenter by trade if my work shop was like that I would starve in a month.I am not criticizing what you are doing just the way you are doing it.I realy hope you don't take offence at my observations and hope you do well in the future and find my observations from a prospective customer useful. Kind regards Chippy. (Mick)

  25. My f10 is now 2 years old and its been buging me in the 18 months ive had it, when you look through the wheels there is a large ali boss attatched to the disc which the wheel is bolted to, beeing ali it show signs of salt marking and is just cruddi. and spoils the look, so with the crapp weather, ive cocooned myself away from the wife and with jack in hand tried to remove my wheels, ha! No way, they were corred on. 1 big rubber mallet latter the were of( BMW take note the slots to let out water also let in salt a spot of copper slip during building wont go amiss). I digress, so with electric drill and a new buffing pad, and by luck an old tube of T cut which has lost its soft poilish part, begain buffing now with a fluffy black face hair and glasses they are gleaming. so 2 coats of Mcguirs wax to preserve my hard work they look bright clean and gleaming. is this the saddest expence of time on a crap Sunday yourve ever heard of. Regards, my beemee chums
