Hi Michael, We cleaned everything in sight and carefully used emery paper because the slightest corrosion on the splines will cause judder, even in reverse!! Bear in mind when its all done, give it time to settle down and wear in for a few hundred miles. By the way changing the splines is very expensive!!
Hi, I had the same problem and it was the thrust bearing along with rust on the splines through to the fly wheel, this causing stalling at traffic lights, the clutch on inspection was fine. Hope this helps though expensive to repair if this is the fault
I had this problem and I found that the connecter under the air bag on the steering wheel had corroded, contact cleaner fixed the problem and a reset cleared the light
All the lights and rev counter, speedo, you could be right though I gather there are two plugs on the back, It appears that someone has been there before! so looks like the screws will have to be drilled out!!! What a job, Thanks for the info.
Does anybody know why the whole thing dies on me regardless of going over bumps or weather changes, very intermittent, will go for days OK then on and off and then fine again. I see that it is easy too remove but what am I looking for. Is there some sort of module? HELP its driving me nuts!! Anyone know where I could get a replacement etc
I have permission to watch and take photos in my local garage of all the work during replacement of the clutch plate etc. Question to the moderator, Is it ok to upload the photos on site? Is it allowed to mention The Garage and staff? I have used them for 10 years without fault. Yes it is an honest garage, I would like to do them proud, Any other comments welcome.
Thanks Ian, BMW quote 3 3/4 hours which seems excessive, my local garage said the same so call it 4 hours to fit the clutch plate, thrust bearing and oil seals. total cost £241 seems OK to me against main dealer charges. Unless anyone knows different?
Hi, every one, Anyone know how long doe's a clutch change, thrust bearing etc take on a 320i take as my garage will match a quote, waiting with bated breath.......... Thanks
Hi, They do get worse over time but how much is very debatable, the parts are cheap the labour is not. But its a life that you may be risking one day. I am meticulous and I am still here at nearly 67 years old and still a Beemer fan.....
According to my MOT tester deterioration is not a failure providing there is minimal up and down movement, sideways is not really counted unless severe. hope this is helpful
Similar, 2 rear suspension bushes on the front arms = £44 labour £156 local garage . BMW garage quote £536!!! Also 2 new rear springs local garage plus fitting £101 BMW £580 Guess where I went..........
Solution found from my previous discussion. The lead connection from the bulk head to the fuse box, after examining I found corrosion, a quick wd spray and drain and dry off has been my solution also cleaned all the fuses just in case, Hope this helps any others with problem
When driving the lights flash on the dash and then everything dies including speedo and tach then the seat belt light comes on and then all returns to normal...until the next time.......Helpful suggestions please
Thanks Jack on the subject of Ebay, unfortunately My identity was stolen on there so after 7 years of them pestering me for money I did not owe.....my feeling are a little sore! Have decided you are right, it looks cool without. Regards Steve
Hi, Anyone know where I can obtain the 320i decals from. The rear decals were removed by the second owner and as I am slowly restoring my 95 bmw this is a must to be original.
