Hi John Is your car soft top or tin top ? The Soft tops have a hydraulic system 2 hydraulic rams (left and right) and 2 hydraulic tension rams the pump has a built in reservoir which if it is the same as the one I have seen it only holds a small amount of fluid (top up bottles are 250ml). It sits in the storage area for the roof First check all the lines run your fingers around them feel for any wetness/leaks check the rams are clean and all joints are clean If no sign of leaks then remove the trim in the storage area or boot to expose the pump. The pump has a nylon tank with minimum and Maximum marks on it (while you can unbolt the pump for better access DONT undo any hydraulic lines there is a fill plug on the pump body if the fluid is low before topping up look for leaks Check online You Tube may have some helpful videos Dave

Morning Taysir The more information we get the more it seems like either low fluid or overheating (or both) Hope you get a sensible fix Dave -
Morning Kevan Welcome to the Forum The battery in the telematics unit is/should be rechargeable so the fault may lay elsewhere but the battery is easy to replace if needed If you have a little patience and ability at DIY you can change it yourself the only bit you may need help with is re-setting the Fault code First use www.realoem.com put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box, it will bring up your model. Look in the communication section to get part numbers and the location of the Telematics unit. Removing the unit will need a little patience a very clean hands, The battery is under a cover on the Telematics unit Before starting disconnect the cars battery (Neg first) When yu have changed the battery in the Telematic unit and put it back reconnect the cars battery. it should with luck reset any codes. If not this is the point where you need either a Garage or member near you who has a BMW capable diagnostic programme to reset the Fault code If you really need a Garage Google the Register of BMW Specialists there should be one near you Good Luck Dave

Morning Chris Welcome to the Forum What an impossible question unless we can hear it !!! Is the rattle inside the car or underneath ??? Inside. I would start by taking all your stuff/junk out of the car empty all the pockets and storage trays, glove box check under the seats. Once the car is clear is the rattle still there if it is then you are looking for loose trim which may need some detective work. Outside. I would check under the car for anything loose. Heat shields Exhaust under body shields Good Luck Dave

Morning Rod As with all car purchases History History History (although these days with extended service intervals that may not tell you much) General condition inside and out and does everything work as it should are a good indicator, you know from experience there are no cheap fixes. A battery condition check may help Good Luck with the hunt Dave

Hi Taysir As this guy has already drained the fluid is he even sure that the levels are correct ??? I doubt they are as you seem to have an over heating trans (having to wait for it to cool down) Sadly stay away from there. A decent Trans Specialist will tell you straight away by diagnostics if the TCM has a fault, here in the UK a ZF 6 speed auto service kit Fluid Filter and Sump costs around £250 so if the work were carried out by a Trans Specialist I would expect a cost of around £500 maybe £600 in USD probably $650 to $750 Check for any leaks check the Trans cooler is working OK your trans should be operating around 90c 190f if it is above that then something is wrong. How is engine temp? in the middle of the gauge ? Dave -
Each Key should have a chip that once programmed will read a rolling code provided by the car. Once used I didn't think they could be used on another car But as the old saying goes "we learn something new everyday" Fingers crossed it works Dave

Morning Andy Welcome to the Forum You have responded to a 2 year old post, sadly many people do not close out posts and after 2 years may not even own the car anymore Dave

Morning Dave Your car is the same as all BMW's since iDrive was introduced in 2006/2007 the only change since then is the key only needs to be in the car not in a slot You must be sitting in the car and windows closed Put the fob into the slot (the radio will work but no ignition) Position 1, remove and replace 5 times remove fob hold down the unlock button while pressing the BMW logo 3 times then release the unlock button. Then push the Fob into the slot to turn on the ignition, if the Ignition comes on and the car starts your Fob should be programmed Obviously if the Fob won't program something is wrong. Back to my question is it a Genuine BMW KEY if it is your dealer will program it if you can't manage. If it isn't a BMW key then contact the supplier and ask them How to program it. But if it isnt a Genuine key be ready to ask for a refund As I said before a BMW Dealer will need Vin number and proof of ownership then order a key from the Factory. The key will arrive with the blade cut and Fob ready for programming which the Dealer will be happy to do Dave

Select accept Motorways Ferries and Tolls then it should keep you out of the undergrowth 🤣 Dave
-
Hmmm BMW would not supply a blank key so I am guessing this is an after market Key. Have you been able to pair the Fob with your car? Before spending money on key cutting try to pair the Fob Dave

Morning Nick Welcome to the Forum Check www.realoem.com put the last 7 Digits of your Vin in the search box then search the engine section to find where it is Then take a look at the car to see what is in the way (how much stuff needs removing) then if your happy crack on. Use the part number from realoem to get the parts needed Good luck Dave

Morning Stuart First simple test "try your speaker" if it works then the next bit is will it fit? If it does then mount it and put everything back, that I think will be the test to see if you have a change in sound quality between OEM and the replacement. If your like me "tone deaf" if it works great 😁😁 Dave

Morning Spencer Welcome to the Forum Are you sure you are not a Truck Driver 🤣 I thought they were the ones stuck down lanes where they can't turn around Check settings look for "Use Motorways" or similar it may be set on shortest route or something similar Enjoy your exploring in your X1 Dave

Hi Taysir So after you diagnostic scan and no fault is your Trans performing as it should? I have never heard of a Trans Specialist re-using Fluid. It is like like draining old oil from the engine changing the filter and putting the old oil back ??? You just wouldn't do it. As said the old fluid will contain all sorts of contaminants which he just put back?? Dave -
My money is on a drain George

Morning Dermot Welcome to the Forum Check www.realoem.com put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box it will bring up your model, then search the section you need. You will find the Part Number for the OEM part. Then use that for your Internet search that way any items you find should fit. There are many out there Sachs, Bilstein, Monroe to name a few Good Hunting Dave -
Morning John Just your Beemer testing if your still awake (the Bong is a Wallet alert) 🤣 I guess you got your Tyre man to check pressures then reset the system, after the button pushing the car doesn't actually reset until 30km/ph is reached. If there had been a previous alert not reset something may have woken it up (and you) For your Radio back to reading the book and perseverance, I have the essentials in mine R2, R4, R5 and the CD works.
