  1. Hi Paul Are you able to connect via bluetooth or do you need the hard connection? If you have bluetooth I would check out the wireless chargers for the X1 Good luck Dave
  2. Hi Martin Don't believe it LED's fail just like an ordinary lamp plus if they are the daisy chain type it will depend on the circuit board as to whether it looks like missing teeth or doesn't work at all. Dave
  3. Hi Paul Welcome to the Forum Not sure but are you talking about the charging cradle under the arm rest? If you are there are several types available that you can snap in your self plug and play as they say. Just release the one that's there unplug it plug the new one in and snap it in place job done They come up now and again on Ebay or of course your Dealer, but the Dealer will be the high cost option make sure that the one you buy is suitable for the Iphone model you have. Bless Apple they do like to change things around. I take it you can connect via Bluetooth for calls etc its the charging you want? There are some clever wireless charging holders available now that fit in the arm rest. Dave
  4. Morning Martin I thought the recall was for the brake lights but could very well be wrong, you can check online if there are any outstanding recalls for your car at https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/ put your reg in the box and search outstanding recalls You have checked that the lamp actually illuminates off the car? Also have you checked power at the connector? Have you tried contact cleaner on the connector to see if that works. If you need a wiring diagram take a look at www.newtis.info just put the last 7 digits of your vin in the search box then when your model is called up search the wiring diagrams. Good Luck Dave
  5. Morning Breck Welcome to the Forum You could try disconnecting the battery for 30mins this resets everything and should clear the seat memory ( Dealers often use this trick) Make sure you disconnect the Negative terminal first then the Positive, once disconnected some folk touch the 2 terminals together to clear any static charge left ( I have never bothered) Then try resetting the seat memory Good Luck Dave
  6. Morning Martin Isn't there an access hatch in the inner boot lid trim to let you get to them? Not a Vert owner but that seems likely to me Have you checked the hand book? Or try www.newtis.info Dave
  7. Hi Josh Welcome to the Forum This Fault is normally triggered by the DME having one or more parameters out of wack, could be fuel pump failing or blocked fuel filter, could be an injector fault or a throttle body issue, the list of "could be's" is long. The DME restricts performance to avoid engine damage. You need a Garage or someone with BMW specific diagnostic software, a BMW Specialist would be best and much cheaper than a BMW Dealer there is a register of BMW specialist garages Google them find the one nearest to you and give them a call. Good Luck Dave
  8. Hi Ben I have read about 5 series having swirl flap issues but not the E53 that doesn't mean they aren't there. Not a Diesel driver but I would be looking at www.realoem.com put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box it will bring up your model then check the parts listed Also check www.newtis.info This one is a BMW technical information site if there are swirl flaps they will be mentioned there in the service information if you have them. Just had a quick look at the E53 3.0D section typed in swirl flaps and a lot of stuff came up so it looks like you may have them. Dave
  9. A bit like children once they are in your life you never get rid of them 🤣
  10. As Stu says Welcome to the Forum If you dont know already www.realoem.com is an online BMW parts list, put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box it will bring up your model. Then you will know what was fitted and the part numbers when looking for the correct parts. Dave
  11. Morning Me Again Simple answer is yes, all the warnings are just a check box. From memory open either LCM or ZKE and at the left side open (again mamory) either coding or functions you should see a page of check box options just un-check the suspension warning Dave
  12. Morning Andrew You need the codes read a good Independent garage or BMW specialist will be cheaper than a BMW Dealer, without fault codes everyone is guessing. A diagnostic scan will help a lot. Dave
  13. Hi Steve If you are seeing the Battery symbol then either the battery is on its way or there is an issue in the charging circuit. First step get the battery tested and changed if it needs it (if its the original it quite probably does) If the battery is OK then get the charging circuit checked it could be a faulty Voltage Regulator or Alternator. Dave
  14. Hi Haziq Welcome to the Forum Try emailing Rusty at rustymidgetman@sky.com I have used his upgrades in 3 Beemers and a Mercedes always worked and always well priced Dave
  15. Hi John I have read about a couple of Key Coding systems the AK90 being one of them but I have no experience of this kit and sorry I am not aware of anyone (that doesn't mean they are not there) maybe an Auto Locksmith? I think part of the problem is BMW separate the transponder/immobilizer from the Alarm/Central locking. So alter the program on one and you have an effect on the other. Were you having issues before or are you trying to add functions? Dave
  16. Hi Andrew I would say yes, as you don't have any obvious leaks and the levels are OK just keep an eye on it Dave
  17. Morning Andrew Welcome to the Forum The picture seems to show it is over filled plus not sure what the bits are, the coolant should be clean? First a litre+ is a lot of coolant so I would suspect a leak somewhere, the bits may well be where someone has added a leak stopper at some time. Have you noticed any drips/water under the car? If the car is not overheating (temp gauge sits in the middle) either keep an eye on the level (Note only open and check the coolant when the engine is cold) then it should be OK until you get it serviced (assuming you can't or don't want to DIY) Coolant should be G48 or possibly BMW Blue. A garage would pressure test the system to find any small leaks the warning light could be the level sensor at fault if the coolant level is OK I hope this helps Dave
  18. Morning John I just replied to your earlier post. Dave
  19. Morning John Welcome to the Forum Not sure what you are try to achieve here your key should have a transponder built in to the blade this communicates with the immobilizer allowing or preventing starting of the car. The key fob communicates with the EWS to activate or de-activate the central locking/alarm system. The Fob coding/re-coding process is as follows. Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to position 1 and back rapidly 5 times. Hold the unlock button and press the BMW logo 3 times, then release the unlock button. If you have additional keys you'd like to program at this time, repeat step 3 within 30 seconds from the original key programming. The transponder will need Dealer Level equipment I believe there are several instances of people accessing the EWS through the diagnostic port and trying to "re-program" that can be disastrous ending up with needing new EWS drivers door lock and ignition barrel, unless of course you are a programmer with clever kit. I hope this helps Dave
  20. Morning Adam Welcome to the Forum Enjoy your BMW. Induction kits the normal suspects would I think be Pipercross or KN Dave
  21. Morning Mark Welcome to the Forum Try https://www.mdecoder.com put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box and there you are. Dave
  22. Morning Archie Welcome to the Forum Great information thanks for posting. Me I am one of the OLD lucky ones who still has a dip stick (why oh why take it away) so topping up or oil changes are simple Dave
  23. Winner Winner 😁
  24. Morning Justin A guy on one of the other forums picked up a full Alpina system for pennies on one of the Auction sites so worth keeping an eye open Were are you with power now ? past the 300 mark ? Good Luck Dave
  25. Hi Rolf Welcome to the Forum Check www.realoem.com put the last 7 digits of your vin number into the search box it will bring up you model. The site is a BMW online parts list every part available for your model will be listed. If a rear wiper is available then it will be shown with all parts to fit it. You could also try www.newtis.info This one is a BMW Technical Information site Dealerships use this information for service and repair. Good Luck Dave PS Just had a look at newtis.info and a rear wiper is shown in the repair list so parts should be available with luck the loom should be there so only the control stalk, wiper and mounting for the motor and local looms will be needed plus a bit of coding to let the car know it's there.
