Forgot to say the sides and bottom of the door card are held by push clips, when the top is free slide your hand down and pop them out I had three broken when I got the card off whether by me or a previous visit by someone else which is why I said get some spares I got mine from Ebay. There is also the inner door handle cable to unhook and the connector for the inner door handle illumination, top done. At the bottom front you have speaker connections and the under door light just take your time and it isn't difficult just fiddly

Welcome Nice looking car where's your private track for you acceleration/speed testing ??

Morning Mike Yes peel back the vapor barrier and look in with a torch at the closing mechanism you will see where the operating cable and rods are. I used my coat hanger tool to hook under and pull up then re position and push down to work the lock first full actuation opened the door, that allowed the whole panel to be removed and better access. Just a case then of making sure it was really freed up then smothering it in spray grease my thinking being it would lubricate and repel water. When putting it all back make sure the vapor barrier is stuck down and has no tears or rips mine did, someone had been there before. I repaired mine with gaffer tape.

Hi Shane Could be the thermostat is either missing or stuck open, this will mean the car will never reach full operating temperature. There are also a couple of solenoid valves on the near side inner wing they control flow to the heater you could check them also but my money would be thermostat the needle should make dead centre of the gauge.

Not an uncommon problem Mike, water gets onto the actual mechanism and it rusts and sticks happened to mine a couple of years ago. First you are going to sacrifice some of the push clips at the bottom of the door card so buy some as spares, then as Philipp says take out the top screws and pull it away (remember one screw is hidden behind the airbag logo) unbolt the airbag DO NOT DISCONNECT WITH THE KEY IN THE IGNITION I didn't take mine out just let it dangle, feel for the electrical connections and unplug them now peel carefully the vapor barrier try not to damage it. I then made a special tool (wire coat hanger with about 10mm bent at 90deg at the end) window down and you can feed the tool down looking behind the vapor barrier with a torch to the lock mechanism and work it manually it may take some force (mine did) once you have the door open remove the door card completely. I then doused the mechanism with penetrating oil and kept working it manually until it was free, Then I smothered it in spray lithium grease and worked it more all in took about 1 1/2 hours and touch wood no issues for the last 2 years.

Welcome Have a look at www.realoem.com put in the last 7 digits of your vin then search. If they were available you will be able to get the part number which should help your search, or you could buy a spare set and have them modified? -
Very nice Welcome and enjoy your BMW

Hi and Welcome enjoy your new ride

Just looked at the dealer list in my Handbook looks as though Falmouth is the only one in Cornwall then Plymouth or Barnstable as near. I have read that now there are some Dealers who give good discounts to customers with "older" models. For mine they needed the Vin Number gave it over the phone then they called me 2 days later to say it's in. They wanted sight of the V5 to ensure I was the owner before we swapped Hard Earned for Key and the Service Manager paired it for me. Good luck Dave

Hi and welcome Your keys should still open the drivers door and operate the ignition There are lots of repair kits for BMW keys and how too's on You Tube sadly BMW never designed the key to be serviceable so it has to be cut open and glued back together. Keys should recharge when in the ignition if they dont then it could be a failed battery or just lost programming again You Tube is your friend do a search. I have to admit my route was the expensive, some would say lazy route £120 from my local BMW Dealer For information and part numbers I use www.realoem.com put the last 7 digits of your vin and it will show your model Good Luck

Self leveling suspension
Greydog replied to Dublin Dara's topic in The Owners Club General Discussions
Hi Dara When you got these lights did you feel your wallet contract !! Its the X5's way of testing your heart rate. Your car has self leveling rear suspension which is pretty reliable too. The X5 is very power hungry and batteries take a battering if the charge is low then it will throw all sorts of spurious warnings check the battery (under the floor and spare in the boot) also alternator output. -
Nice, good choice Welcome and Enjoy

Hi Philip First do you see the telephone function on the OBC screen? Second have you checked the ULF unit in the boot left hand side under the floor. If it's there try unplugging it and leaving it for 10 mins then reconnecting it. If you have done both of the above it may be you have a faulty ULF for the record this is the correct delete procedure Deleting all devicesYou can delete your mobile phone if you no longer wish to operate it from the vehicle. This process deletes all mobile phones which have been paired.1. Press & hold the button call button (the one with the face profile on it), then after about 3 seconds turn the ignition key to position 1 and release the button after approximately 3 seconds. "BLUETOOTH PAIRING" appears on the display or monitor.2. Press the button again for approx. 10 seconds until you hear a triple acoustic signal. "PAIRED DEVICES DELETED" appears on the display or monitor.3. To conclude the deleting process, turn the ignition key to position 0.All mobile phones that were originally paired are now deleted.

X5 door handle carriers are a known weak point I have read that some of the Ebay replacements can fail quickly so an OEM part seems the best way if replacing. Here is a how to from you tube With my passenger door it wasn't the door handle carrier but the actual lock closing mechanism a faf to get at, they corrode due to water ingress. I managed to get plenty of penetrating fluid on the lock and work it until free then using a big syringe and a bit of nylon tube i got it greased. Touches wood ! no issues for the last 2 years

Morning Gaz Simple things first when you removed the Quadlock connector I assume (I know never assume) that there were no small plugs present and you fitted the Aux connector in the right position? One of my sons did this
-
First make sure you are using the pairing button under the arm rest the steering wheel voice button will not work. It may be that 4 phones have been registered which will block the system from pairing any others. There is a sequence for clearing the paired memory but you will have to google that. I use BMW 1.4.0 software on an old laptop so it's simple to access the bluetooth unit and pair or clear down entries. My wifes Samsung we could get it to pair but it would never transfer the phonebook

Sounds like something loose or a rubbed wire earthing, just a thought if someone has been inside the door to work on the door locking mechanism they may have disturbed the air bag connector or not put back something correctly. Take care inside the door and make sure the membrane is put back correctly as its a known source of wet carpets.

Morning Shane Happy New Year I got my inpa software some time back from obd2tool.co.uk I also have 1.4.0 brought through Ebay both running on an old laptop. You could also try Carly for BMW (I tried and couldn't get it working) though it is more expensive.than Inpa or 1.4.0 (they both cost about a tenner from memory. I did get 1.4.0 running in a Virtual Machine on my Win 10 Laptop but as the other one lives in the garage it seldom gets used. Good luck with the set up loads of information on line. Dave

I want to install Fold in wing mirrors
Greydog replied to 320dfarman's topic in Audio/Video/Electronics/Security
Firstly check realoem.com to see if it was an option on your model. If it was an option all the wiring will probably be in place check the mirrors if your lucky they may have the motors already (a lot of the X5's did) then you need the switch it is part of the drivers door window control on the E53, finally you may need to put a fuse in place (check your hand book) Fingers crossed it will all be plug and play Happy Christmas -
2003 325i M56 A5S-325Z (A/T) 160K miles - Will not engage in any gear
Greydog replied to derf's topic in BMW 3 Series Forum
Hi Derf I find it incredible that a Premium manufacturer actually states that the Transmission is sealed for life ??? BMW seem to think the "life" of a vehicle ends with their warranty liability. If you check ZF's web site you will see they recommend changes at 60 to 80000 kilometers, I service mine to ZF guide lines. Sounds like seal failure and debris has blocked the pump so a box out job to rebuild I am afraid.
