Morning Christopher Welcome to the Forum Don't believe all you read on Google yes many transmissions will reach Star ship mileages but rarely without service, transmission fluids live a hard life so degrade and need fluid and filter changes. The box in your car from what I have read is made by Aisin Warner and was I believe the first 8 speed FWD auto box while I have not had any direct experience of your box I have had Aisin boxes in Volvo's and my wife's Subaru. I would use google to find an Aisin Warner specialist near you and talk to them. I always stick to Fluid and Filter change every 60k as so many times you hear the "sealed for life" rubbish I interpret that as "End of Warranty Responsibility" Remember BMW Dealers don't repair/fix anything they just replace with new at their cost !! A good transmission specialist I would expect to be around a 1/3rd of BMW cost to repair. Still not what you want to hear but more manageable I suspect Your box is in use by BMW. GM, Toyota/Lexus, Volvo so check those while gathering evidence Good Luck Dave

Increased Battery Discharge error and a few others.....

Morning Jess Welcome to the Forum What a frustrating time your going through !! My starting point would be all the earth points, BMW love multiple earth points and earth switching. Also check the engine earth straps Check www.realoem.com put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box it will call up your model. Then look for what you need the small exploded drawings will help locate stuff. My 4.4 X5 had some weird stuff going on which turned out to be one of the Multiple earth points in the boot behind the spare wheel I took it off cleaned the contact area smeared it with electrical contact paste and remounted it all issues gone. The dealer had suggested a new FCM was probably needed a BMW specialist was heading down a similar path? Once your confident that the earths are all good (there are several around the car) then if you still have an issue either manually pull fuses to see what stops the current draw. I would also carryout a full diagnostic scan but then I have my own BMW diagnostics program Good Hunting Dave- 2 replies

Morning Nick Welcome to the Forum I have read of issues caused by water ingress and other internal issues I have also read of several specialist companies who are refurbishing racks and giving Warranties with their work. I would carry out an internet search for Repairers and talk to them. Remember BMW do not repair they just replace units so their price is based on the cost of the unit (plus their mark up) then their labour rates (North of £200 phr) all plus VAT not to difficult to reach £3k Good Luck Dave

Hi Jenson Welcome to the Forum If I understand your problem (1) Bluetooth is working if your phone connects as you can make and receive calls (2) The problem is you can't stream music ? Or do you want Carplay? If Bluetooth works there should be a tick box in the i-Drive menu to enable Media streaming Dave

520 touring boot cover slide
Greydog replied to Nick55's topic in The Owners Club General Discussions
Morning Nick Oo err not seen this before, have you looked at www.realoem.com to see if there are any clues there. I take it the the clip/slide is intact no signs of wear or breakage same for the cover where it connects. Realoem may also give clues as to how it fits Good Luck Dave -
Morning Mark Seasons Greetings and Welcome to the Forum You really need the help of some one with BMW capable fault code diagnostic software, there is a register of BMW Specialists they would have the software and knowledge they will also be less expensive than Dealer prices (normally) A Good Independent Garage should also be able to help Good luck Dave

Morning Steve I changed my screen because it was failing plus the navigation was out of date BMW dealer replacement price was in the spare body parts area 🤣 After some reading and research I brought an Erisin Android replacement unit from one of the well known Auction sites. There are several Videos on Youtube for fitting. I chose the Erisin unit as it had the latest Android software (Andoid 10 nearly 3 years ago) but it gave me (1) a 10.25" screen plus a more modern look. (2) The operating system allows a Choice of Navigation systems, Bluetooth, all the apps that you could think of plus Carplay (Apple) and Android Auto. To upgrade the operating system or apps all you need is access to a WIFI network most are free to download/upgrade though some need a subscription My phone is Android but my daughter who sometimes uses my car when she is visiting like you has Apple when she gets in the car she just connects to Carplay and is away The system works really well I have helped a couple of our sons friends with changing their units 1 series 3 series 5series and all are happy 2 of them are Apple fans. Hope this helps Dave

Morning Steve Seasons Greetings I would treat yourself to an Android Head unit/screen it will give you everything your looking for Nav Bluetooth Android Auto and Carplay plus loads of other apps (if you use them). Fitting is really simple and Plug and Play plus you retain all the OEM CiC functions and you can switch between the two using the i-Drive controller I did it in my E70 a couple of hours work and the change is amazing and no programming which I bet a Combox will need if not fitted at build, plus is the loom there. Morning Aaron Then you may need the help of someone with ISTA/INPA to see if it has been coded out. You could check one of the BMW Vin Decoders to see if it was an OE feature ( I must say I thought it was) Dave

Unless it is the additives that go into all fuels now I am at a loss. You have got me keeping an eye on the fuel gauge now 😂 Have a Peaceful and Restful Christmas Dave

Morning Dennis Have you changed where you fill up? My X5 3.0d was averaging 28/29 around town short journeys then a new filling station opened close to home so I started using it and over a month or two noticed a drop in MPG, same fuel supplier. The only thing that made sense to me was pump calibration? An argument I lost with the station owners by the way so guess where I fill up now I am assuming here that the car has no faults and is fully serviced Dave

Morning Sheila Welcome to the Forum May be time to contact Rogue Traders BMW have been there before and didn't like it, but lots of customers gained help Merry Christmas Dave -
Hi Daniel Welcome to the Forum It depends on 2 things (1) Your DIY skills and if they are not good (2) the thickness of your wallet Talk to Companies like ECU Testing in Nottingham they may be able to repair yours but you will have to take it out and send it to them Or you could take it out and replace it make sure it is the correct part number as a replacement and it may need calibration to your car Dave

All fixed now ?

Morning Andrew Welcome to the Forum First Battery check wwww.realoem.com put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box it will call up your model. Then look at the relevant section for the information you need.. When changing battery make sure it is correct for the car and is registered to make sure it is charging correctly. An over rated battery won't last any longer and may not charge correctly. And lifting the LPG tank to change battery is a job you don't want to do very often (been there done that 🤣) Spark plugs in my 4.6is are BERU Z116 14-FR-6 LDU been in the car for almost 5 years now (about 30k) never missed a beat but there are offerings from Bosch NGK Champion and others Have a great Christmas enjoy your Beemer Dave

Morning Mike I would start with the fuses then check all connections to the CIC in case one is loose, if you have an amp check that as well If it turns out that the CIC has a fault contact companies like Cartronix and ECU Testing who can usually help with repairs and upgrades Dave

Cant figure out my misfires for the life of me
Greydog replied to Ryanward13's topic in BMW Z3 & Z4 Series Forum
Morning Ryan Welcome to the Forum Spark Plugs should be Bosch FGR7DQP or NGK BKR6EQUP the Coil pack is it OEM or a Pattern Part ? Are the Spark Plug leads in good condition no rubbing or chaffing Check carefully the engine bay wiring for any cracks, chaffing or damage clean the DME connections with a good electrical contact cleaner finally check the engine earth straps and earth connections in the engine bay I am assuming this isn't a mechanical issue, compression all Good Dave -
Morning Tom Welcome to the Forum Your Transmission is a ZF 8 speed ZF recommend service between 60k and 100k Fluid and Filters. If you are doing it yourself make sure you use the correct fluid type Dave

High - values - faulty injectors?
Greydog replied to Wmbbmw1977e70x5black's topic in BMW X5 Series Forum
Looks a real mixed bag some low and a couple high may be time to consider either a refurbished set or new, they will need coding though -
Like most of the electronics and accessories on your car BMW don't make it they buy it in OEM sensors are I believe made by HUF and are not as expensive as they are when packed in a BMW Box 🤣 The biggest cost/pain is the tyre has to come off to change them that is why when one failed on my E70 I waited for Tyre change time then did all 4 Dave

Greydog replied to Gerry Labelle's topic in The Owners Club General Discussions
Morning Gerry Welcome to the Forum I take it you are in the USA so under the Hood (Bonnet) drivers side there should be the Charging points Live on the bulkhead and Negative on the inner wing near the suspension tower. If I recall there should be an internal emergency release but the rear set has to come out to get to it Hope this helps Dave
