  1. Hi Ed Welcome to the Forum First empty all the cubby holes and glove box to make sure it isn't a self inflicted rattle If it's still there when does it start/stop if you push part of the dash does it stop ? Check for anything loose ? Good Hunting Dave
  2. Hi Ian Welcome to the Forum The place to start is www.realoem.com it is a BMW online parts list just put the last 7 Digits of your Vin number into the search box it will call up your Model. Then search the sections you need to look at, there are small exploded drawings that should help with how and where things fit. Find the item double click the part number and it will show a list of any alternate part numbers and models that part was used in (very useful if sourcing parts. There are some very tidy Android head unit upgrades available which are pretty straight forward to fit just take your time. The arm rest if you use a Vin Decoder you should be able to find the OEM trim colour then Google is your friend to find parts as you will have a part number from realoem Good luck ENJOY your BMW Dave
  3. Common issue with the Glow Plugs a friend who is a Diesel specialist reckons if one Glow Plug is gone you may as well change the lot and the module save going back in there. He also told me that it can stop the Re-generation Cycle as BMW use the plugs to help achieve the Regen Heat required Good Luck Dan Dave
  4. Morning Denise Welcome to the Forum A fault is a fault what reason has your Dealer given that this is not covered under Warranty ? Have you talked to BMW UK Customer Services ? If the Dealer is claiming the rear bumper damage is the cause ask him how? which bit of the cars system links the rear bumper to the Door mirrors and drivers door control panel ? Itemise in writing the time line and sequence the faults occurred. Make sure it is clear that Folding Mirror and Window control issues were there before the rear end bump. Send it to the Dealer with a copy to BMW UK by email that way you will have a legal record. Good luck Dave
  5. Morning Paul BMW TIS/WIS tells us 25nm for Drain Plug and Filter Housing For what it is worth the lad with the E53 was meticulous with servicing and torque settings and he still had a split housing? Dave
  6. Afternoon Marek Welcome to the Forum Check www.realoem.com put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box it will call up your model then if buying parts you will know what will fit. You could contact specialist repairers such as Cartronix, or ECU Testing or BBA Reman then if it's repaired (1) You know it will fit and (2) It will have a Warranty From experience the I-drive controller was an early culprit as was the CCC unit, yes check all the fuses and Connectors (unplug spray with a good contact cleaner and re-make the connections) I have had 2 CCC units repaired/upgraded by Cartronix for friends of our sons and replaced 6 or 7 I-drive controllers. Normally a Diagnostic Scan with BMW INPA/ISTA or BMW 1.4.0 will point you at the right solution Hope this helps Dave
  7. morning Adam Welcome to the Forum Difficult to tell anything from such a short recording, have you checked the injectors for sealing? No hoses or ducting loose or split? All belts in good condition ? Has any work been carried out lately ? Check if anything was disturbed Dave
  8. Fingers crossed Dan 🤞 Dave
  9. Or depending where you live in the country there may be a member who can help locally? Or maybe a BMW Specialist (normally cheaper than a BMW Main Dealer) Dave
  10. Hi Loris Is your Car Play enabled through the OEM equipment or is it a Carplay Retro Fit kit as I have read several accounts of folks removing them due to problems Dave
  11. Morning Loris Welcome to the Forum First thought is how consistent is your DAB signal? If the DAB drops out it may revert to the last settings, perhaps? Not some thing I have come across before and have to confess at my age Radio 2 is as complicated as it gets. Having said that I also like everything to work as it should my E70 has an after market Android Headunit married to the onboard system the Phone Link I still haven't mastered but I will? Hope some clever young thing can help Dave
  12. Morning Darren Welcome to the Forum That looks really nice ENJOY Dave
  13. Hi Lorna Welcome to the Forum Intermittent faults are a nightmare a Scan with a BMW friendly Diagnostic system (BMW 1.4.0 BNW INPA/ISTA) All faults will be logged even intermittent ones will leave a trace as "Fault not Present" without a scan you could change several parts/sensors before you find the culprit as it could be anything from a Failing Ignition switch to the starter relay Dave
  14. Afternoon Steve Welcome to the Forum First I would ne asking how good the engine warranty was of the Re=builder If I recall your model used M47N2 or N47 engines a quick look at www.realoem should confirm which type you can use, if you double click the part number it should give a list of other models that used the engine. You deserve some good fortune Hope you get it sorted Dave
  15. Morning Matt Welcome to the Forum Always difficult with noises/rattles unless they can be heard/compared. I am sure that there are many who have changed marques and heard noises they haven't heard before. For me it was easy after years of V8 Mercedes and BMW X5's my E70 is Diesel and it definitely sounds different 😁 ENJOY Dave
  16. Morning Martin Welcome to the Forum Wow very tasty and looks original ENJOY Dave
  17. As you are a roll your sleeves up man then an engine swap is a possibility check realoem find the part number for the engine then double it and you will get a list of other Years/Models that the engine was used in. It should help with sourcing. If you can see it running in the donor car so you know what your getting. I would also check the cost of getting the head rebuilt against the cost of an engine swap. If your engine is coming out swap the mounts as well as an after thought it's worth checking them anyway as they do fail and can cause odd vibration and running. Dave
  18. Can you move the wiper arm by hand ? That should tell you if the splines are loose or worn. A squirt of WD40 around the spindle perhaps to see if that works? Dave
  19. That is because BMW retain failed damaged units and supply only NEW at their price and require the old unit as exchange. I have a son in the trade and he could sell no end of BMW turbo's if he could get them!! But a good Turbo specialist should have no problems after all a turbo isnt exactly rare on cars today Good Luck Dave
  20. My first thought is, Is it seated on the splines properly ? Plus is it the correct wiper for the car Dave
  21. Fingers crossed for you 🤞
  22. The answer Naveen is he probably did nothing but change the main and big end bearings and put it back together. Our sons friend had a similar experience with his 2.0d 1 series the parts for full rebuild cost more than he was charged by the scummer who supposedly rebuilt the engine. Still second time around he could come and help and learn about his car and it's still going strong 3 years on Heart bleeds for you
  23. Morning Julian Looking at your Battery values as shown not being a Bimmerlink user I am not sure how to interpret the 84% reading, was that engine off or just started? the other readings seem to indicate engine running 14.7v would be a healthy charge from the alternator An 84% charge would be 10 or 11v which could be low enough to trigger your faults If the car is running well you may want to put those faults down as WALLET ALERTS 🤣 Dave
  24. Thats what happens when you let clever people loose on design !! Have you tried talking to people like Cartronix, BBA Reman and ECU Testing I have had great results from all of them with different parts Dave
  25. Morning Rod I wouldn't hesitate on a refurbished Turbo as often if there has been a common Fail point the Refurbishes have found an upgrade a fix. As BMW tend to retain any failed part finding someone to do it may be your challenge Good Hunting Dave
