Morning Rahul Welcome to the Forum Difficult choice as the contrast between your BMW and a cheapy when driving is going to be huge. Sometimes it can work well though when I rebuilt the engine in my 4.6is I brought a high mileage Toyota Avensis estate from our local dealer ex taxi 185k but spotless and full history with 3 months MOT £700, cheap tax and insurance. My thoughts were maybe sell it on after my X5 was back on the road, after 3 months it sailed through an MOT. One of our sons started using it it stayed with us for 3 years so who knows you may find something like that. 30k per year isnt abnormally high in modern cars it would be trade values in say 3 years that may be worth considering Dave

Hi Dean Welcome to the Forum As with any car History History History, check it's MOT history as well any repeated fault or advisory to me show it as owned by someone who spent the minimum on it If History is good and MOT history OK then Mileage at 100k the Super charger service is due that will cost around £1k so bear that in mind when talking money The Cooper S is basically a good strong car Dave

Desperately seeking advice on conclusion of garage on error codes
Greydog replied to Wishplay's topic in BMW 1 Series Forum
Hi Martin Glad you made it back safe and sound Go back to my original post Fuel pressure sensor and the explanation that the other codes are symptoms caused by a failing fuel pressure sensor. Have you talked to the Seller and asked for at least a contribution? Kep us up to speed please- 19 replies

Morning Andrew 🤣 I know what you mean, as far as the Diff oil is concerned I wouldn't mind a bet that most of the cars out there have never had the gearbox, diff or transfer case serviced regardless of mileage. As an LSD has clutch plates I would tend to go with the LSD fluid to be safe. Dave

400whp makes it quick enough to wake up some supercar drivers and all Hot hatch drivers all suspension bushes need upgrading to PTFE or be prepared to change them regularly The 4.6is started with the Alpina derived engine and 354hp Dave

Morning Graham Simple answer is no, I have not heard of it being done though if you can get measurements of the mounting points you may be able to make a decision. I believe ALL X5 E53 models used the same sub frame just Diff and drive shafts being different. I take it you have checked realoem then double click the part number you should get a list of alternates. Just had a quick look and part Number 33316770459 was E53 and 33316863815 was E70 it doesn't seem to indicate any cross over on late/early models

Sorry Eric maybe harass BMW UK see if they can shed any light Dave

Hi Andrew Heck is German for Rear (I think) just had a quick look at realoem and there are 2 Part numbers I have found (1) 33102284030 and 33102283062 that are LSD as fitted to the M5 cars interestingly they were also fitted to some of the LCI from 2005 to 2015 For your Chassis from the Vin shows a Part Number of 33107570478, also Realoem doesn't seem to show a manual option? Confused If you can get part numbers from the car it may help Dave
-
Morning Andrew Take a look at www.realoem.com put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box it will bring up your model you should find all the information you need there I dont think you have a limited slip diff as standard check a Vin decoder to get your build sheet in case the original owner ordered it with one Dave

Welcome to the Forum Evgeny Nice looking X5 and in the fastest colour too, my own E53 in Estoril is an 4.6is that came with all the bells and whistles including a deployable tow bar double glazing electric heated rear seats etc etc. The chain guides failed at 90k so during the engine rebuild I upgraded the throttle body and cams plus a few other parts it runs just over 400whp. While the engine was in bits I upgraded the in car entertainment with a Dynavin unit so full connectivity and android available but retains the OEM look. Last year I took it off the road to cut down the miles going on it (164k) and my X5 E70 3.0d became my daily drive ENJOY Dave

Morning Julian My X5 has an upgraded MMI (Android) which can accommodate CarPlay if needed never tried as I don't use Apple products from what I have read it seems straight forward though. Have you tried downloading through BMW Connected drive ? There will be a cost no doubt but still worth a try Dave

Hi Stacy Welcome to the Forum Are you aware of www.realoem.com put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box it will call up your model. The small exploded drawings are quite helpful for seeing where stuff fits. The part numbers will help with parts .if needed double click the part number and it should bring up a list of alternates and other models they were used on Hope this helps Dave

Morning Paul Electrics and fluids never mix well, probably easier to change the controller get the part number of the unit fitted and Google for sources Good Luck Dave
-
Morning Philip Welcome to the Forum The spark plugs are fitted with their own compression seals so make sure they are (a) correct for your model (b) fitted and tightened correctly (c) Check the coil packs your misfire could be a failing coil pack (change all 4) What oil leaks do you have? Also at 92k the supercharger service is looming? Dave

Morning Bill Welcome to the Forum When was the coolant level checked? The fact that the hose is Collapsed when cold suggests to me that the system may need bleeding I take it the car doesn't overheat (temp gauge in the middle) has the Thermostat been serviced/changed? Dave -
Morning Norm Welcome to the Forum Sounds Turbo related to me, turbo's lead a hard life and my personal feelings are extended service times don't help. Hope they get it sorted for you Dave

Morning Steve If your car is Xdrive I am amazed you haven't had transfer case issues? Check www.realoem.com for correct sizes whether yo choose runflat or not incorrect or mismatched tyres are the fastest way to damage the transfer case Dave

Rear indicator bulb replace bmw f11 touring
Greydog replied to Buffalo Bill's topic in BMW 5 Series Forum
Morning William Welcome to the Forum I can't offer much help other than this the rear light cluster will need a new gasket set if removed I believe the rear cluster is LED so a search for "How to's" on repair may yield something. Good Hunting Dave -
Morning Joshua Welcome to the Forum Tasty car ENJOY Dave

So what was plugged in that wasn't there when testing? Phone charger? Rear entertainment system? Where did you monitor the current drain? At the battery or at the charging point under the bonnet? You have changed the battery is it correct for the car and was it registered to the car to ensure correct charging. Important point only ever charge at the charging points under the bonnet never direct at the battery or damage can be caused to the cars onboard systems. Dave
-
Talk to the seller (hopefully a Garage) and get them to fix it, it could be simply a low battery that needs a good run or charging. Or it may be something that needs more investigation. Dave
-
As the engine is not running in E mode it makes sense that if electric pump is not running the coolant won't circulate that is where I would start Dave
-
If you go back to Realoem first look at the Engine section you will see where the Waterpump and Thermostat housing are mounted To get to them you do have to take off acoustic covers and other bits. If you look at the Radiator section you will find the Electric Water Pump. As your diagnostics are showing 0 movement have you checked associated fuses and relays? One of the main advantages of using a BMW diagnostic program such as ISTA is it come with BMW workshop information and diagrams. Realoem is a part of the diagnostic as well making sure if buying parts you get the right part number. Slow warm up is normally a sign of a thermostat failed in the fully open position (or even a missing one) Dave
