  1. Morning Graeme Welcome to the Forum You need a diagnostic scan by someone or a Garage with a BMW capable system. From your comment you have been to a BMW Dealer try the Register of BMW Specialist's there will be one near you or a good recommended Independent. Your problem could be as simple as a sticking adjuster or sensor or a failed sensor, if all sensors and control elements are in good order it could well be something just sticking. Take a look at www.realoem.com put the last 7 digits of your Vin number into the search box it will bring up your model then check the relevant sections for part numbers if they are needed the small exploded drawings will help with where parts are located. Hope this helps Dave
  2. Morning Scott Welcome to the Forum Little confused here as you say your not into "Modding" your cars, but here you are asking can you fit a different bumper and a noisier exhaust etc etc ?? Still to try and help you first your car BMW 320d but is it E46 or E90 both models were available in 2005 ? Check your log book or I would look at www.realoem.com put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box it will bring up your model then check the body section to see if the Motorsport Bumpers are available get the part number and then search all the usual sites for a deal. Engine wise providing your engine isn't a "fleet" issue model then a good remap will reach your 210bhp target without any other mods providing the engine is in reasonable condition of course. Exhaust mods are personal taste do want Loud so people hear you coming or efficient so people wonder what the heck it was that just passed them? DPF can end up with an MOT fail so beware and also like your exhaust mod may not deliver what you think. Again my personal advice if you are going for more power also spend money on brakes steering suspension and tyres Enjoy your BMW that is the main thing Dave
  3. Morning Maureen Welcome to the Forum A quick look at www.realoem.com looks as though BMW would ask $1600.00 + for each Cat I would search the Internet as I have seen 300 cell competition Cat's for sale at around £300 each did your price for £695 include fitting ? Often the OEM Cat has to be cut off and the replacement welded in place? Dave
  4. Hi Mark I have seen a 3.0d X3 that had had the near side drive shaft replaced. The shaft hadn't been seated properly and eventually popped out destroying the shaft seal and locking ring. All replaced and a hefty whack on the end of the drive shaft to make sure it seated properly the top up the Diff and all good since The fact you have had Whining did you have any clunks on engaging gear? If your lucky it may be something similar Fingers crossed Dave
  5. Good result why not we are quick enough to scream if things are not to our liking so Name and Praise Dave
  6. Hi Gary Welcome to the Forum Local BMW Dealer they will need either your Vin or existing key to order a new one Dave
  7. Hi paul Check www.realoem.com put the last 7 digits of your Vin in the search box then look for what you need at least you will have a part number if you are searching for a replacement Dave
  8. Afternoon Ged Welcome to the Forum Yes you will find it in the same place just got pedals in the way yo increase the Faddle level. If you aren't aware take a look at www.realoem.com it's an online BMW parts list put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box and it calls up your model then check the relevant sections for the correct part numbers for your car. There are small exploded drawings which may help see where stuff fits. Another good site is www.pelicanparts.com they have how to's with pictures but as it is an American site the steering wheel is on the wrong side. Good Luck Dave
  9. Hi Oliver Until you know what is causing the noise it is impossible to say. As an example my X5 started to sound like an old diesel at tick over, turned out to be a failed Vanos solenoid (£20 if I recall) Luckily I do have Diagnostic software so could run a scan. Dave
  10. Morning Rich Welcome to the Forum Check www.realoem.com put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box and it will bring up your model. Then search the relevant section you will find small exploded drawings that will help. Plus all part numbers, double click the part number and it will call up a list of other models it was used in and alternatives (if they exist) Dave
  11. Morning Mark Welcome to the Forum Check www.realoem.com it's a BMW online parts list. Put the last 7 digits of your Vin number into the search box and it will bring up your model then check the Front Axle section You will find the Part Number you need plus if you double click the part number a list of other models it was used in. If the front diff is toast what caused it? The transfer case normally goes first changing the Diff with out fixing the cause may end up costing dear in the long run. Dave
  12. Morning Oliver Welcome to the Forum I would start with a Diagnostic session either with a BMW Specialist or a good Independent Garage or if you have deep pockets a BMW Dealership. Could be a lifter issue, Injector rattle or Vanos Dave
  13. Hi Antony Ooops not what you want to find. Most Insurers have a deal with a Windscreen company check your policy Dave
  14. Morning Gurtan Welcome to the Forum Normally Lambda faults will have an effect on mixture as the DME not getting the signals will revert to a basic fuel map so the car remains driveable. I would check the Throttle Body, fuel rail pressure and injectors. Dave
  15. Morning Steven Welcome to the Forum If you have received a recall letter I would follow it up with your nearest Dealer and explain what has happened, make sure they know it was a Diagnostic by the RAC that points to the FRM. Also check onine for any information that may point to others having a similar issue, I suspect your not alone. Dave
  16. Morning Duncan It may be that your keys need re-syncing with the car, check Google/Youtube for methods Fingers crossed that will cure it Dave
  17. Thats a new one Paul Not sure if you can take it apart I guess it depends on Cost ££ if a new one is horrendous it must be worth taking it off and seeing what you can do. Tried WD40 Dave
  18. Morning Duncan Welcome to the Forum Dave
  19. Hi Norman So there is no power at the connectors? From what I have read there is a fuse but it controls both sides so I would check the earth point for that side and the bulbs and holders. Try swapping bulbs side to side perhaps? Dave
  20. Welcome to the Forum David Afraid I have no experience with MHEV vehicles yet so can't be of much help, what have BMW to say? Dave
  21. I am not aware of any column shift BMW model unless it has been adapted for a driver with a disability? Or do you means paddle shift on the steering wheel? Dave
  22. Morning Norman Welcome to the Forum Checked the bulbs, and connector? Dave
  23. Morning Michelle Welcome to the Forum BMW have a fine mesh filter/screen around the bottom of the pump if a screen wash has been used that doesn't have a fungicide added a jelly like mess clogs the mesh and stops the washers working. If you cant do it yourself you need a friend who can remove the pump and either change the filter or simply wash it under the tap, also check that the washer reservoir is cleaned out as the sticky stuff may be floating around in there. Take a look at www.realoem.com either look for your model or put the last 7 digits of your Vin onto the search box it will bring up your model. You will find small exploded drawings that will help see where stuff fits. Dave
  24. Morning Johnathon Welcome to the Forum This used to come up often with the E53 normally it was only with the Halogen Lamps but I thought the E70 were all either Xenon or Bi Xenon? Check the light units are original, there have been people who have swapped pre-LCI for LCI lamps not realising you need to upgrade the wiring. Check the actual lamp you could upgrade to Osram Night Breaker I have read lots of good reports. I would start by checking all wiring pay attention to the earth, check realoem.com for part numbers to make sure yours are correct for your car. Dave
  25. Morning Mark Are you in Sport Mode? If driving normally are all changes OK? Are all changes OK in manual mode? When was the box last serviced? Dave
