  1. Morning Paul First do you have a tow bar fitted ? If you do then first check the connections at the trailer plug, check the PDC controller (there is a connector black I think that lets the control system know the trailer is connected) The last is a check on the LCM for faults so a code read will be required, while reading the fault codes you could turn off the trailer light check. Dave
  2. Morning John Look at realoem.com they call it an "oddments tray" cant see any thing that is specific as a glasses holder. It would be a straight swap for your ashtray and give more room inside. For an insert maybe find a vacuum formed insert or chat up someone with a 3d printer Happy New Year Dave
  3. Glad your back safe and sound Stu bet you all need a holiday now 🤣 Dave
  4. Welcome to the Forum Mark Dave
  5. Hi Paulo Says missing codec not sure if it's the upload or my laptop Dave
  6. Hi John Welcome to the Forum Like many manufacturer Main Dealers if it isn't in the manual it can;t be done !! I have read that if you have the voice command button on the steering wheel and telephone prep in place then all you need is the voice command module and the cable harness Check www.realoem.com (a BMW online parts list), put the last 7 digits of your Vin in the search box then check the relevant section for what is required Good luck Dave
  7. Morning Paulo Welcome to the Forum The fact that faults cannot be cleared indicates that there is a problem, you need a diagnostic scan by a garage or someone with a BMW capable diagnostic reader Can't see your video so can't comment, I would look for a BMW specialist locally if you don't want to use BMW (the specialist will be about half the cost) Happy New Year Dave
  8. Morning Chris Happy New Year and Welcome to the Forum Beauty as they say is in the eyes of the beholder so your car should please you first others second Check www.realoem.com for part numbers then you can be sure if they will fit Enjoy your Beemer Dave
  9. Happy New Year Paul Mine were an own goal !! the rear lights were faded and cloudy polished them a couple of times but still didn't look good, So I brought new replacements fitted them mid year, first winter couldn't work out where the water was coming from in the boot. Finally worked it back to the rear clusters and sealed them up nothing since. I have read a lot of posts on other websites where the same thing has happened. Dave
  10. Morning Matt Water isn't the friend of electrical equipment or engines. If your car ingested water into the inlet side it could be laying in the intercooler. I woul find a BMW Specialist or trusted Independent who has a BMW capable diagnostic program. They will be able to check there are no sensor or control unit issues, make sure the intercooler is clear so your not sucking more water in. Fingers Crossed Dave
  11. Welcome to the Forum Neil Enjoy your car 😁 Dave
  12. It seems the B&W system is a Speaker system and Amp designed for each BMW Model the ability of the system to play digital files will be helped/restricted by the OEM Headunit and CD/DVD Player Happy New Year Dave
  13. Seasons Greetings and Welcome Ashley First carefully back track the work done just in case something was dislodged or unplugged. Check fuses and relays then clear all codes make sure the battery is fully charged and re-scan see if the codes clear I thought starting the New Year with a headache was supposed to be caused by drink 😂 Good Luck Dave
  14. Seasons Best Scott I would talk to BBA Reman or ECU Testing, both companies are well known and have good reputations for repairing/improving parts that BMW (and other Manufacturers say you can't) You can also check the BMW Specialist Recyclers I have used Quarry Motors in the past they are knowledgeable and quick. Good Luck Dave
  15. Morning Adam Seasons Greetings and Welcome to the Forum The X drive cars are very sensitive to a difference in rolling radius of tyres (all AWD cars are) as you only changed the front tyres there could be that you are experiencing Transmission wind up. Reverse slowly on full lock if you feel any snatching or jerking then it is probably a tyre problem. Ideally all 4 tyres should be changed at the same time to try and ensure rolling radius is in tolerance. You should also make sure the same tyre/tread pattern is on each corner. Get apiece of chalk and make a mark at the bottom of a front and rear tyre, roll the car forward one revolution of the front tyre (chalk mark at the bottom) the rear should match if it doesn't there is the problem. If it is a Tyre issue you will cause damage to the transfer case which is more expensive than tyres to fix. Dave
  16. Merry Christmas and a Happy and Peaceful New Year to everyone In the words of the old Bing Crosbie song "I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas" But if it runs out I will drink anything 🤣🤣🤣
  17. Morning Paul My brother inlaw is now on his 5th 5 series Touring (current is a 540d x drive) previous were 535d all ecu tuned from new. The last 535d and the current car are mid range Porsche killers 😈 The BMW bluetooth systems are limited on the number of phones that can be registered so if it;s memory is full it could drive you bonkers. Try this, on your phone turn on Bluetooth, in iDrive go to communication and in the sub menu phone (or could be new phone) and select. your phone and the car should find each other (something like BMW xxxx showing 0n both screens. OK you should be asked for a Pass Code (your Phones) so normally 0000 or 1234 click ok. then it will ask if you want to transfer contacts etc click yes job done. Well I think that's how it goes 🤣 Or you could call up You tube 😂 Hide your Licence and ENJOY, with that power and torque you you only need bluetooth to scream for you MUM Dave
  18. Just chased as I saw his wife apparently he is in Hospital with C19 in New York so won't be back this side of Christmas Have a Good One Dave
  19. Morning Oliver When the car was jump started I hope you used the under bonnet charge points and not direct to the battery ?? You could well be suffering from the efforts of a "Modder" who has done some weird things to find power?? You really need a Full Diagnostic read by some one with a BMW capable system. The symptoms you describe could be due to a failing or damaged LCM control unit, not unusual if the car was jump started direct at the battery. Dave
  20. Morning Oliver Battery Disconnect for around 30mins is a Dealer trick to reset all faults while it was disconnected did the check the battery and charge it? Low voltage can cause some weird things in BMW's Try fully charging the Battery (use the under bonnet charge points) and see what happens Dave
  21. Have you tried BMW ? I thought the Owners Manual was part of the CIC/CCC these days could be wrong though Seasons Best Dave
  22. Morning Kathy All codes are EGR related (I think your EGR is electric) pointing to a clogged or failed EGR. It will need taking off and inspecting and either cleaning or replacing. If your friend has a code reader they should have some spanners the job isn't difficult just take your/their time. Search youtube for some video help also look at www.realoem.com put the last 7 digits of your Vin Number into the search box it will bring up your model the search the sections for the part you need. Each section has small exploded drawings and part numbers so that if you need a replacement (new or used) you get the right part. Good Luck try and enjoy the break Dave
  23. Morning Paul Welcome to the Forum The 535d is an awsome bit of kit I am sure it will give you plenty of SMILES per Gallon Dave
  24. Great fun the Hunt the Battery game 😂 It is under the floor on the right hand side at the rear there are several panels and trays to come out before you get to the battery I have done this on a 4 series and believe the 3 series is the same. You will need a trim removal tool and a 10mm socket and patience. If he is trying to check the battery it can be done from the charging points under the bonnet, if he is just trying to charge it that is where to do it as the name suggests. Seasons Greetings Dave
  25. As said in your welcome post make sure the engine, turbo, etc etc are all good before spending out your hard earned Check carefully regarding DPF removal as I believe it will be an MOT fail. My brother inlaw is now on his 5th 5 series touring all have been ECU tuned from new he has never had any DPF issues and the last 4 have gone well above 200k all have complete BMW histories with interim oil and filter changes here. We did swirl flap on the early 3 but the later cars are much better. The last two needed EGR changes at around 150k Dave
