Morning Jay Welcome to the Forum There is a Register of BMW Specialists google is your friend here then find a couple near you and talk to them. You say high mileage 200k + ? Just remember that if the engine is worn there is little that can be done other than rebuild or replacement. Good luck hope it's something quick and easy Dave

Morning Martin First trade in, when a dealer is taking a car in part exchange they have to consider two things !. Will it be re-sold on their forecourt or 2. Will it go for Auction So clearly they will offer the lowest price they can in order to protect their Profit. When selling on their Forecourt they will price a car to maximise their profit even if they have to discount.Always remember who is paying for the "Free Coffee" 🤣 The X3 will have better ground clearance and more space for your drums but it is a heavier and more complicated car due to the AWD system which accounts for some of the additional cost. Hope you enjoy the new car Dave

Morning Jake A diagnostic scan with a BMW capable scanner would tell a lot more ? However you can carry out some checks under the bonnet open engine off key out and car asleep (light by the gearstick out) check the voltage at the charge points under the bonnet. Anything below 12.5v would indicate a discharged or failing battery. Engine running check the voltage again should be around 14 + v Your problem could be a clogged fuel filter, low fuel pressure or as simple as the fuel pump relay sticking so good diagnostics are needed. Dave PS. Welcome to the Forum

Morning Scott Welcome to the Forum You should find the sensors including the O2 sensor on top of the Catalyser/DPF unit Take a look at www.realoem.com put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box it will call up your model, then search the exhaust section you should see an exploded drawing of the system showing where stuff fits and what the correct parts numbers are. Dave

A Diagnostic scan is needed otherwise you are going to throw money at it unnecessarily. A diagnostic scan with the right equipment will show even faults not present but held in the memory Dave

Morning Terry Sadly BMW used to allow access to their TIS (technical information system) but a couple of years ago made it subscription only. There are 2 sources in the USA Bentley Manuals but being USA tend to be petrol based, and Pelican Parts these guys have some great online "how to Articles" complete with pictures again mainly petrol based. If you get a copy INPA/ISTA it has the technical information included with it just I am not sure if you can update it anymore but for older models obviously that isn't an issue. Plus of course www.realoem.com Dave

OK thinking of the simple things first I guess you have tried reprograming the keys ? I don't know if Carly is capable of programming/reprograming the CAS/EWS if it cant be repaired by someone like BBA Reman or ECU Testing If your unit is failing any replacement will need programming to your DME and registered to your chassis plus the keys reregistered. I know it can be done with ISTA/INPA so if you don't have access to it may time to get some quotes from a BMW Specialist or someone who has. Dave
-
Morning Stuart Welcome to the Forum First have you tried another key? Just to rule that out the next step would be a Diagnostic Scan if you don't have the equipment find a garage with a BMW capable scan tool. Dave

Morning Dan Welcome to the Forum Definitely not right and I would say needs urgent investigation, it could be a loose or failed track rod end, a failing/failed steering column joint (2 of them) or a rack issue. How new is the MOT? that play much would be a fail I think a strong advisory at best. Check the MOT advisory list Dave

Morning Owen Welcome to the Forum Not a common problem but I have seen it twice once on a 5 series and once on my X5 in 16 years. Both cases it was a failed door actuator getting the door open is a Faff as you have to take off the door card to "A" get the door open and then "B" get to the actuator. I undid the passenger seat and tipped it back to give better access and remove the door card. Then with a long screw driver manipulate the door lock mechanism and get it open. I replaced both actuators with second user parts at a reasonable cost. Tip : remember to plug the window switch back in or the Central locking wont work plus test with the door open. I had scanned both cars first and both showed an Actuator fault Dave

Morning Phill Welcome to the Forum So you have a heavy right foot !! Better hide your licence 🤣 In the mid 1970's I had a Citroen DS23 Pallas as a company car, it was a 4 speed manual (now the fun bit) on the right accelerator, in the middle a rubber button bit bigger than half a tennis ball, on the left another peddle. So 4 speed manual without a clutch put it in gear and accelerate, lift off change gear all straight forward until you put your foot on the left peddle that your brain says is a clutch peddle !!! Wrong it's the parking brake, scared the pants of me and a few followers with that. Then there was the rubber button, just think about putting your foot on it and you stopped actually putting your foot on it = Emergency style stop. The point is within an hour of driving it I had adjusted. The brakes will bed in and you will adjust to them ENJOY your BEEMER Dave

Morning Shivaji You could try BMW Vin Decoder which should give the build sheet for your car, I just had a quick look at realoem and if you have S6F1A on the build sheet you do have the B&W High end system However it looks as though someone could order an HK system with B&W speakers most confusing unfortunately it still doesn't give any system information? Can BMW Customer services not provide something? Dave

Hi Shivaji Welcome to the Forum First came across this in a 7 series (I saw a review somewhere), I was under the impression that it was a speaker system not the complete sound system so if the cars iDrive/Radio is capable of plying Hi Res Audio files the speakers give the best chance of reproducing the sound. Always worth remembering it is a car not a Cinema or Club 😁 Really tasty motor Luck Boy ENJOY Dave

Afternoon Steve Welcome to the Forum What a great find and you haven't compromised your love of convertibles 😁 Get a copy of BMW 1.4.0 (about £20) and mount it on a laptop it will give you Dealer Level diagnostic's for the E46 plus if you aren't aware www.realoem.com is a BMW online parts list. Put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box it will bring up your model then search the sections for what you need, there are small exploded drawings that will help with where stuff fits and the correct part number ensures you get replacements that fit correctly. Enjoy your new9to you) Beemer Dave -
Morning Paul Welcome to the Forum I have seen General fit cameras that sit below the rear view mirror I wasn't aware of a specific kit for the F15 X5 Dave
-
Morning Philip Not good check realoem.com in the body and trim sections it should allow you to identify where they are. When searching for the leak don't ignore the rear light clusters the seals perish and allow water past over time. I had to remove the clusters and use a thin bead of clear silicone smeared on the cluster seal has cured it (so far) Dave
-
Morning Luis Welcome to the Forum Check www.realoem.com put the last 7 digits of your Vin Number into the search box it will bring up your model. Then search the relevant section for the part you need, when you have it double click the part number and you should get a list of alternate part numbers that can be used retrospectively The alternative would be finding someone who is capable of repairing your current unit Good Luck Dave

Morning Joseph Welcome to the Forum I would get a diagnostic scan done by someone with BMW capable software or if you want to trace it yourself I would begin at the pump. Check the connector and loom for continuity, is the water pump relay operating, you say the fuses are OK it may be worth using a good quality contact cleaner on all connectors and fuses. Is the pump you changed actually working ? Was it new or a replacement ? Good luck with tracing the issue Dave

Morning Abdul The ticking noise could be several things, a lazy lifter, injector tick, coils packs, Vanos, also worth checking are tensioners for the drive belts and the belt condition Dave
-
Morning Tim (well it is here) Welcome to the Forum If your enjoying the 228i I am sure you will love an X5 Dave

Morning Kristian Sounds a bit of a pain with INPA I would guess one of the drivers didn't/hasn't loaded properly Great news that you have a fix for the Airbag issue I would still make sure the recall has been done Dave
-
Whoop Whoop Great news Abdul, glad it worked out for you Now hide your license in a dark place and ENJOY your M3 Dave

The more you dig Oliver the more you find 😂Tweeters first, swap to the other side if it works then it's the loom if it doesn't it's probably the tweeter. Opening and closing the door twists and bends the cables and like my old bus your drivers door has been opened and closed a few times !! If you don't own a Multmeter borrow one or buy one (they aren't expensive) take off the door card and trim where the loom enters the mirror, then peel the rubber sleeve between the car body and door away from the car body so you have access to the loom. Now the slow bit I use a couple of pins and cable by cable stick a pin through the insulation at the door end the either test for continuity at the connector or stick another pin in if you can't get to the connector. If the loom checks out OK then it will be the mirror switch or master window controller switch (do the electric seat controls work OK) If you have an old laptop I would buy a copy of BMW 1.4.0 it should cost about £20 max it will allow dealer level diagnostics and save you a lot of time and stress. If you need to buy spares use www.realoem.com put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box it will call up your model, then search the relevant section for the item and part number. That way if you buy stuff you know it will fit. Dave

OK dip on reverse can be turned off by repositioning the mirror selector switch to the other side.. In terms of operation the drivers door switch is the master switch so a fault there will effect both mirrors but the fact it dips on reverse would seem to indicate the fuse is OK I would do 2 things, first use BMW Vin Decoder (Google) and you will find out what your car was supplied with you are looking for S313A and S459A I think I am right that without electric seat adjustment with memory you cant have power fold mirrors. So i would narrow my search to the drivers door master switch (windows and mirrors) Check and clean all connections with good contact cleaner and reassemble see if it helps, check the mirrors themselves where the loom enters the door for any cracks or breaks Dave
