  1. Happy Birthday jonmcghee!

  2. Mine was exactly the same sitting ticking over nice and warm, drive it cold. Changed the thermostat all sorted and running a lot better too.
  3. Why? its only snowing AGAIN............ :(
  4. You will get a cap for around £6, leads about £20 (ebay) I would pull the plugs and have a look at them when was last time changed? if been a while would replace them too. As for the overheating are you lossing any water? does the system become presurised? have you had a sniff test done on the water? any signs of white smoke out the exhaust? can you here any funny gurgling sounds around the engine bay? Have read that radiator can be a problem with blockages and the thermastat housing can be a problem with cracking also, never experianced myself so someone on here hopfully will be more enlightened with the problem.
  5. All ready for mot hopfully next week some point.

Just a quick one of our motor.
  7. Never have, licence means to much with work and voletry work i do. I would be totaly buggered without it.
  8. I take it this never got of the ground  Any fresh plans?
  9. dont know i senders would swap over but has it got 1 wire or two if its got 2 then take a small length of wire beared at both ends and just make a circuit between them the gauge should reqister full with wire conected between them. If it does good chance it is the sender i would say. single wire is basicly the same but just find good earth point on the engine or the one end and gauge should do same. Hope this makes sence and helps.
  10. springs done !Removed! wipers now......... replacement arived today fit it now and hopfully that will it be ready for mot next week. All underside rust killed, exhaust all sprayed with heat proof paint, all had a fresh coat of underseal so looking good underneath now.
  11. Ran the bm up the garage the other day to sort out for the mot and on the way up it ilt like i was drifting going over some bumps  So after reading the write up at the start which is great, it mentioned that could be good chance it would be swing arm bushes. So ordered a pair and fitted them yesterday. What a mess the old ones where in most of the outer casting was coroded away  . so just waiting on springs (one snaped) and get her moted then start sorting out central locking.
  12. Found a hole in the rear drivers sill (looks like someone jacked it up on the sill and not the jacking point  ) so welded that up. Found a brocken rear spring (need to sort that) and passanger wipper decided to stop working, after digging into the wipper assembly found that the arm from the motor decided to drop off. OK easy fix poped it back on and does half a wipe and drops off..... ok think i need a new one.
  13. will do. Thanks
  14. Hi all back again (run away.... ), droped in to see bmw delalers today and the model i have does not have a alarm fob it has a chip built into the key wich acts as imobliser and works when turning into ignition. BMW EWS System. But forgot to as about central locking Doh.... so reading haynes manual it talkes about an arming system that works when you lock the doors and after digging around found that all this is running through a ZKE IV unit. This seems to run everything elec windows, central locking, sunroof. As all cental locking and alarm is dead i just wonder if there is a problem with this unit and if so is it coded to the car or is it easy to interchange?
  15. Thanks all, Will start digging in electrics now and see if i can find what going on. Thanks again
