  1. Hi Andy...welcome to the Forum I would have though the option was there to allow air to flow to the passenger area as well as the driver but maybe the drivers' side has the over-riding control on upper air flow rather than the passenger dictating the direction of flow? Maybe the manual has some description of operation? Let us know how you get on with this. Cheers Trevor
  2. Hi Andy I'm pretty sure Halfords sell some paint specified for alloy wheels which I assume would be thicker than standard paint to protect from stone chips, etc but not entirely sure the best stuff to use. Tend to drop them into refurbishers in the past as they over bake them to get the correct finish. Good luck with finding the paint and do let us know if you do find anything worth using Cheers Trevor
  3. I would definitely advocate the use of 'Slime' in your tyres...been using it for years in my cars, campervan and motorbikes with no problems and also no punctures. I recommend trying it out in one tyre first as sometimes (very rarely) it can produce a dynamic imbalance which usually disappears as soon as the Slime throws out centrifugally.
  4. Hi Stephen, Glad to hear you've got your new Beemer...sounds a beauty! Feel free to post up a piccy of your new motor....would love to see it Cheers Trevor
  5. Hi...and welcome to the Forum I have to agree with you, the 7 series is a very fine motor car indeed and for the money you get an awesome array of options (assuming they all work though) Feel free to pop up some photos of your Beemer is you like. Cheers Trevor
  6. Hi Raminder....welcome to the Forum Feel free to ask questions or post topics at any time. Cheers Trevor
  7. Hi Mike....welcome to the Forum You certainly like your Beemers then? Look forward to reading your posts on here Cheers Trevor
  8. Hi Michael....welcome to the Forum I would say there is carbon build up within the engine and intake system, nothing running a good quality fuel additive and intake cleaner wouldn't cure, especially combined with a good blast to clear it out. Works a treat on my Z3 when I occasionally take it out and the same thing occurs. Let us know how you get on with it Cheers Trevor
  9. That's a much better price but as you are getting selling the car, it becomes dead money spent on something you're not going to get the benefit from. Maybe better selling it at a lower price stating that the work will need to be done sometime?
  10. I'd be tempted to remove the system and check the wiring and connections behind.
  11. Does the power to cut completely? e.g. does the illumination on the system go out completely or is it still powered up but with no sound coming through it?
  12. Hi Oliver...welcome to the Forum The 8 series is a great car, would love one myself. However, it does seem a high price for one with huge miles and needs lots of work doing on it, but then it is now a classic car and appreciating in value every year. Let us know what you decide in the end and would love to see a photo of it. Cheers Trevor
  13. I agree with Greydog...it does seem like the specialist is charging near similar rates to that of a dealer. I would think any reputable independent garage (all makes) should be able to tackle this sort of 'bread & butter work' for a lot less.
  14. Info from the DVLA website shows it as a 1986 built car. Date of first registration 20 January 1987 None of the sites I normally use to value a car recognise your registration...too old probably, comes into being a classic car now. I couldn't find anyone in your area specifically but these guys state that they travel. http://classictracker.co.uk/
  15. Hi Max...welcome to the Forum I think for a car like that it's worth getting an independent valuer to quote. A few going on eBay for big money. Got any photos of it to post up? Cheers Trevor
  16. Here's a link to some parts, depending on which engine you have. http://www.bimmerownersclub.com/parts-results/3-Series/Chain--Sprocket-Kits/180356 It would be worth checking the timing before replacing any parts just to see if it has moved.
  17. Nice work !!!! Looks the business
  18. Hi Andy....welcome to the Forum I think the AA man may be correct...timing chains do tend to jump....not enough to contact valves but enough to put it out of phase. If this is the case, it's not too horrendous to get sorted with modified components so it doesn't happen again. Let us know how you get on with it Cheers Trevor
  19. I've just featured this post and pinned it as well in the hope that other Forum members in your area might respond to you.
  20. Hi MIke....welcome to the Forum Great looking Beemer...lots of nice features ! As yet, we haven't got much in the way of regional meetings but if you'd like to arrange something in your area I can offer you as much assistance as possible...just let me know. Cheers Trevor
  21. Certainly do agree about the interior choice...I used to own a Rover 200 'BRM' which had completely red leather interior (leather seats and transmission tunnel covering, door cards, red belts, etc)...definitely evokes the spirited driver within! Hardest part of it all is the waiting
  22. Hi Rick...welcome to the Forum Sounds like a great car...got any photos to upload of it? Especially like the description of the interior Cheers Trevor
  23. Hi Rob...welcome to the Forum I imagine there are quite a few changes in your current Beemer since the last one or do you find it has the same typical BMW feel to it? Good to have you onboard Cheers Trevor
  24. Hi Richard, What is the classic car you are going to install it into?
  25. 'Zebedee' (i think that's how its spelled) as it's a Z3 Roadster and 'Z3' sounds like 'zebedee' (if you say it fast enough, and you're drunk)
