  1. Hi David I would imagine the best way is to have a look for the blanking plugs in the inlet manifold...you may need to remove it to check this is the case and if not, then order some from ebay (plenty on there for sale) and fit them as soon as possible. Let us know how you get on with it Cheers Trevor
  2. Thanks Greydog
  3. Hi David...welcome to the Forum! The car looks great as a project car and good condition to start with. Keep us updated of the ongoing mods please, would be interested to see it taking shape. Cheers Trevor
  4. Hi Brad...welcome to the forum Maybe worth resetting the battery power supply for the lighting system to re-index the headlights...just a thought. If not, possibly poor connection or wiring to the headlight Let us know what you find Cheers Trevor
  5. Here is a link to a site which explains in detail about the swirl flaps/acoustic valves http://bmwspecialistreading.co.uk/what-are-swirl-flaps/
  6. Hi David...welcome to the Forum I have had a quick look and there doesn't appear to be the usual replacement cases and button covers for rebuilding your old one. There are a few listed in the link (below) but you would need to swap the internals and the key blade to use it without having to programme it and get the blade cut if just using the one key. http://www.bimmerownersclub.com/parts-results/X3/Ignition-/61687 Let us know how you get on with it. Also, common fault on the X3 engine is for the inlet manifold valves to drop into the engine so the mod is to remove them and fit blanking plugs...may already have been done. Cheers Trevor
  7. sounds like the best bet all round
  8. Hi Craig...welcome to the Forum got any piccies of it you'd like to post up? Looking forward to reading your posts in the future. Cheers Trevor
  9. Hi Cameron...welcome to the Forum I'm not sure how it will affect the finish of any trim parts but a very strong solution of Traffic Film Remover may shift it. Let us know how you get on with it Cheers Trevor
  10. Hi Shaun...welcome to the Forum Sounds like it has jumped out of time again....which would definitely suggest tensioner. May be worth looking at oil quality as well to as that can affect the hydraulic tensioners' ability to do its job. Let us know how you get on with it Cheers Trevor
  11. Hi Stephen....welcome to the Forum! I'm not 100% sure but I think the problem may be with the phone not being set up to play the music although you can make calls which means the device is being recognised...got the same problem on my Honda as well. May be worth fiddling with the phone first? Let us know how you get on with it Cheers Trevor
  12. OMG whatever possessed the KA driver to pull out in front of you, unbelievable! Glad you and your occupants managed to escape injury though
  13. Hi James, I would take the car back to where the pads were changed and get them to check the system to make sure nothing is wrong. Alternatively, they may just need to reset the system to know it had new brake system components...but I would still take it back for them to sort out..at no extra charge! Let us know how you get on with it Cheers, Trevor
  14. It's probably worth keeping an eye on things like tyre pressures, load in the boot, fuel level (full tank/low tank level), etc to see if anything improves. Keep us informed if you do find anything makes a difference and gets you nearer the claimed figures...you can only live in hope!
  15. Hi Philip...welcome to the Forum I know what you mean about the mpg claims, I drive a Honda CRV as a daily smoker and I have never managed to get near the claimed figures but the way I see it is if I am happy with what I'm getting and its more than I get from my Z3, I can live with that! Look forward to reading your posts in the future Cheers, Trevor
  16. Hi Gary...welcome to the Forum Glad you're enjoying your Beemer, they really are great cars! Post up a piccy of it if you like Cheers, Trevor
  17. Oh very nice indeed...looks amazing with the hard top on
  18. Hi Len...welcome to the Forum! Great looking car...and just the right weather for it as well. Enjoy!! Cheers Trevor
  19. Hi Stuart....welcome to the forum! Not sure apart from BMW themselves (sometimes not too bad price wise for certain parts) or look in Germany as loads of BMW suppliers there. Let us know how you get on with your search Cheers, Trevor
  20. Hi Richard...welcome to the Forum! I don't believe the problem is with the AFM as the sensors on the Beemers are generally quite reliable. The 1.9 is not too potent. I've got a 2.0 litre Z3 and that's pretty gutless so I'm in the process of upgrading components. My thoughts to go forward for better acceleration are a remap which will definitely improve things and the exhaust system is standard and therefore loaded with lots of factory restrictions. After that, you could look at a cold air intake system to improve things. Let us know how you proceed with any mods or upgrades Cheers, Trevor
  21. Hi Richard...welcome to the Forum! I'm not sure but if you run a multimeter around the car, I'm sure there must be something local to where you want to locate the lamps. Let us know how you get on with it Regards Trevor
  22. Hi Andrew...welcome to the Forum! I'm personally not sure which springs to go for but I would think the best thing is to ask the individual manufacturers as to their recommendations and see what they say but if you measure the gap between the bottom of the wing and top of the tyre and then you'll know how much drop you can get away with for a start. Let us know how you get on with it. Regards Trevor
  23. I suppose Bosch would be best although I'm not a big fan of the brand, the sensors generally are okay
  24. Hi Kevin...welcome to the forum! Definitely a mid-life crisis, lol I also have a Bimmer convertible (Z3) and a GS1200 bike :-) Look forward to chatting further about mid-life, etc Cheers Trevor
  25. Not sure really, but electronic sensors are susceptible to vibration, heat and moisture...all three being present in the DSC sensor environment. Also, the brand quality can also be an issue...maybe worth looking at an alternative make of sensor?
