  1. Hi Fellas, The first bit of cold weather and my '94 320i wouldnt start, the little bugger! After hanging on to the key for ages it eventually did but idled very badly. When it warmed up everything was OK. Anyone have any ideas? Cheers.
  2. Hi All, Managed to get through the MoT. Changed the sensor (its only got one) If anyone has to do the same I would recommend using the offset Lambda socket. See photo. Also I bought the sensor from LAMBDA POWER. See photo. They were really helpful and offered lots of advice. Tip: If you do have to ask about the sensor try to have the MoT failure form with you and the failure figures. Thanks to all who replied.
  3. Cheers. Have you any tips on changing the sensor? the main problem I can see is the one I have bought seems to be a universal fitting that you have to cut off the original connector and soldier it to the new sensor. I hope the colour code is the same. And by the way mine is six cylinders.
  4. 2 sensors? I think Ive only ordered one (it is an E36)
  5. Cheers Mate, Did that and yes they were ALL broken! Resoldiered - easy fix. The emission reading was 2.44 (CO2) can't remember the other readings.
  6. Hi Fellas, Ive sorted the ABS senors and now I need some advice for my 1994 3201 SE Auto. The little rascal has just failed the mot on the CO2 emissions test (too high) the tester said I should change the two sensors on the exhaust first before I get involed with the Cat. Are these called LAMBDA Sensors? Are they both called the same? Are they easy to change and where are they? Any tips please? Also it failed on the number plate lights not working, I moved the wire by the boot lid stay and a fuse blew.I can probaly find this but any tips would be helpful. Cheers
  7. I wish they were someone elses hands!
  8. I left them for 3 days with as much WD40 as I could get on. Also squirted some more every day, but the little darlings didn't want to come out! and also its got what looks like a cog underneath the sensor
  9. Thanks for the input. Yea I think I'll give the diagnostic whatsit a miss. Because I wanted to change the rear discs I have concentrated on the rear sensors. There is no access to them as they are behind the hub so I thought I would battle on and try to change them. WELL! if you have to go down this very rocky road then don't bother with a swear box, get a SWEAR BUCKET! They were an absolute pig to get out. The way I managed to do it was I removed the retaining bolt and forced an old screwdriver underneath and then broke the top off of the sensor. I then worked the same screwdriver down the side and prised it out bit by bit. I also slid a larger screwdriver between the top of the halfshaft and gently forced it up from underneath. It took me ages but I managed to replace both rears. I have also replaced the fluid. I bought the two sensors for £35.98 on ebay er' I can't find the address at moment. So far it seems to have cured the problem but I'ii give it a good run out on the weekend and let you know if it worked. Cheers
  10. Thanks Fellas, Ill try that tomorrow and let you know how I get on. Ive been in the bmw lounge and seen the same problem so Ive got two lines of attack! Whats your view on buying a diagnostic tester to use with a laptop? Have you got/used one? If so what one have you got/used? Thanks for replying.
  11. Hi karlos, I have the same problem, same model and year! Do you have the item codes for the front and rear sensors and maybe the address of the place you got your sensors from? I live in London so everythings double the price! I can't get them for less than £85 rear and £65 front. Anyone know of a cheaper place in North London? Cheers
  12. Thanks. Ive had the car for 10 years and Ive never changed them. Could you be more specific by "in-situ" and what are the" fins" on the inner side of the disc? At the moment its on axle stands as Im renewing the the discs and all I can see is the sensor with no visible access, just the back plate. Does this have to come off? The fluid is about 5 years old, but why do you ask? Anyway thanks for answering my post. Cheers!
  13. Hi All, I have a 1994 320i Auto Saloon (129000 mls) The ABS warning light keeps coming on and going off at different intervals (there is no pattern to the timing) I have tried to remove the rear sensors but after removing the retaining bolts I cant get them out. Any tips on removing them or should I be looking for something else. Can they be tested?
