  1. Hi all another question I'm afraid, my question is has there been any recalls on the early X3's mines an 05, the reason I'm asking is my airbag light doesn't come on when ignition switched, not a bad thing I suppose but when I had the car on a diagostic machine(local garage) it came up with occupany sensor fault but no light on dash(airbag) The garage cleared the fault code and I searched the internet and came up with a recall on some X3's for the occupancy sensor, tried to find out if my car was affected(wasn't sure) so contacted local BMW dealer to find out if my car had, had the recalls done, only for them to tell me there was never a occupany sensor recall for the X3 and my car had never had any recalls(the other recall I read about was the vanos sensor)?????????????????????? not that I don't trust BMW but has anyone had a recall for occupany sensor. I looked to see if there was such a thing as a national register for any recalls in this country for the X3 but haven't found one.
  2. Hi all, have heard lots of horror stories about the dreaded three lights on the dash caused by the actuator in Transfer case or Transfer box failure on the US sites but seems quiet this side of the water, BM insist on correct tyre and brand on all axles and blame drivers of fitting wrong tyres for the faults other side of the water, The X3 has I'm told run flats what make your teeth chatter, when two tyres need replacing I've heard some owners are replacing all 4 with normal side wall tyres as its cheaper for 4 than 2 run flats and its a smoother ride and carrying a tin of tyre fix. Has anyone done this and had a problem?????? I'm not wanting to drive the X3 like a sports car but don't want to create problem either Regards
  3. I can only assume of the 76 views not one has had a problem, but thanx for looking, was hoping for a quick answer dealer won't keep it much longer
  4. Hi all, been a while since I sold the b em and looking to get another Regards
  5. Hi all, question for all or anyone who reads this thread, had a 320d tourer when I sold it I gave the volvo v50se D5 ago, I'm not doing the mileage now and its only done 48k so looking to trade in and get a posh run around so I'm looking at a petrol X3 2.5 or 3.0 not sure about auto or manual its not an issue for me(volvo's auto) but is there any common problems attached to the X3 petrol(head gasket, drive shafts, gear box's etc) had heard there is 1 swirl flap on the petrol which can be upgraded ????????? which is the best the 2.5 or 3.0ltr not going past a 55 plate else its £500 road fund and I'm actually going back 3yrs with the volvo being an 08, the other thing is I've seen a X3 3.0 sport on a 54 plate whats done 44k and for sale at £6995 is it a good buy or not, most of the X3's I've seen around 54-55 have around 78k to 90k miles. So which is best, I was told the 2.5 was the best engine BMW had made and there is probably a thread all about this but, I new all about the 320d swirl flaps and engine breather mod but this is a new area for me, don't suggest the X5 wife says it's too big and she'll never drive it so it has to be a X3 or a Rav she says, any help will be great. P/s are they cam chain or belt Regards
